Tiffany & Co. Watches Do Not Shine In 2010
For the most part I have great admiration for the watches that Tiffany & Co. has sold over the years. For a while, they combined their inventory with personally branded watches and ones from brands such as Rolex and Patek Philippe. Tiffany & Co. branded watches from the 1990's for example were very cool. I wrote a lot about the famous Streamerica watch designed by Jorg Hysek (you can search for it here on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer to the right, as I have written about it several times), and I personally reviewed a Tiffany & Co. Mark T-57 Automatic watch here. Tiffany & Co. was very quiet about their watch operation. Little media, and more or less merely relied on in-store foot traffic to notice their watches. Vintage Seiko Diver-- modified and meshified!
This restored and modded 1984 Seiko 6309 diver that I've nicknamed "Red October" originally arrived with a standard Seiko Z22 dive strap:Blech! I hate these! I tried a number of alternatives Watchadoo lumpy, Zulu strap, etc.Nada! None looked or felt right. Until I tried a shark mesh Oh, yeah! Fits perfect! OK, so maybe mesh is more 70's than 80's but I don't care!

SOTC - first one!
I've been here for nearly a year, and in that time my collection has grown quite a bit! Since it will be a few months before my next addition I thought that now would be a good time to do a State Of The Collection (SOTC) post. I have never done one before, so I'll just feel out how best to do it as I go along.I guess I might as well start with what got me to this point before jumping in to the watches. I remember getting my first watch when I was 5 years old. We were living in England at the time and my parents promised that they would buy me a watch when I learned to tell the time properly. I bought this Chronomat Blackbird new 12 years ago.
Don't wear it often. Have never seen another in the wild although I know they are out there. I can't ever decide if I like it or not after all these years but I still have it.
