aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer has been showcased on EuropaStarwatches-dealer. Europa Star is one of the most important watch industry magazines that is focused on industry professionals, mostly outside of the United States. The magazine's website is the digital extension of the magazine, offering important news and information about watch brands and models of all types. Europa Star is a recommended visit for those interested in the happenings of the one of the most interesting industries in the world (in my humble opinion).Europa Star has deemed aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer worthy of mention in its lauded Spotlight category (as you can see in the screen shot above). The message is that in addition to people who love watches finding my article interesting the watch industry is also watching (no pun intended).See aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer on EuropaStarwatches-dealer here.
Some of my favorite movements are the hacking movements used in WWII military watches. Elgin 532/539, Hamilton 987s, Bulova 10akcsh and Waltham 6/0 '42. I've been searching Ebay for parts and watches. I'm not really excited by the military case forms used for the A-11 and FSSC-88s but I thought I would put together an example of each to compare and contrast with the recased models that were popular after the war. Previously, I hadn't paid any attention to the military watches other that to note that prices seemed inflated by the service related cache. Now I'm studying the watches more closely and have noticed a wide range of offerings from genuine to marriages to outright fakes. I guess high prices lead to all kinds of scams. In a previous post I asked about a wind-at-six Elgin with a U.S. Navy Property dial. I keep seeing these dials as real military issue and suspect they are all wrong. Here is one WW2 ELGIN MILITARY A-11 US NAVY PROPERTY that has a Swiss 629 movement in an A-11 case
I see that this isn't for everyone, but I decided to pull the trigger over the weekend. Life's too short, why not add some colors! A gift from the wife for my upcoming B-Day. Also had the chance to view the new chrono's at the boutique, they are very tempting. Then some delicious food and beer to end the evening. It was a good day
Hi allDo the dial markers appear different. Was the lume applied differently, or was the dial on the right touched-up at some point?thanks in advance
Dear All,So I gently complained about the $1350.00 RSC charge, but am super satisfied. First off, like to thank Rolex Boutique, Mich. Ave (Sales associates, Ben and Andrew) for their customer service and hospitality. Second, I don't have pics prior to service, since I didn't think about it, but my watch was pretty beat up. I dailyed it literally for 6 years and it was pretty beat up. It had a 1/5 of inch scar on the bezel at the 200 mark. There was a significant scratch/dent on the clasp and I know I dinged the crown/lugs a couple of times on my kitchen counter. Additionally, minute scratches all over the watch. Third, I took about 10 pics for those of you who want finer detail as to the RSC service. I was wearing a swatch for about a month and noticed how the Daytona bezel was really pronounced this time. Like it had a heft to it. Also, I told the sale associate to not polish the bezel, but it was polished anyway. Other Rolexers would prob. be mad, but I was happy that the
