In 1904 when Verithin pocketwatches originated Aeby who was long time collaborater with Dietrich (made 20,000 movements for him when Gruen started Columbus Watch Co. 1874+) started again to make fine movements for Gruen. U.S. sizes 0,6,12,16 in hunter and open face. No Verithins in hunters. By that time Gruen had acquired a fine case maker. Here is what the rare 0 size looked like. 1907 gift inscribed with low number 126939. Has a very fine adjusted movement with poised pallet German precision design. Unusual for a little lady watch. Miniature version of the Aeby 16 size r.r. model.
Adam has mentioned how important it is to do your homework. Here's a perfect example:I want a caliber 30L for my Longines collection. I recently had one bought unseen which turned out not to be what I was looking for. It wasn't in the type of condition I would feel comfortable selling it in, so I had it serviced and restored. After eBay and Paypal took their cuts and my watchmaker got paid, at least I nearly got my money back out of it. What can you guys tell me about this piece? The picture is all I have right now. Would like to know price range as I do not think these are super rare or saught after.
The wife and I purchased these for each other close enough to Valentine¡¯s Day to be gifts for one another. Hers is the 31mm Lady Datejust in pink, Romans with the jubilee bracelet. She wanted something practical enough to wear everyday at work as a full time mom yet wouldn¡¯t attract too much attention. She adores her Lady DJ. Mine of course is the 114060 which I had not considered until trying it on. I am a larger individual and felt that 40mm might be too small as I have worn larger watches for years. I tried larger dive/Sub variants and personally felt they were either too thick or just a bit too much for my intended daily wear. My internet heart was set on the Exp2, however when I tried it on in black, for me it was underwhelming(perhaps the Polar would have made a different impression). In the end the 114060 presented the best on me and fit my lifestyle and needs. I especially love the unobstructed symmetry of the no date dial and am truly surprised at just how larg
