A question of cloths
You know, that soft material with which you polish your much-loved Omegas.Which types do you use pals?I know there's been a lot of talk about Cape Cod cloths over the years but I've never used one. What do you dry your watches with after they've had their TLC wash? You won't believe what I use but it works for me. Indeed I mentioned it to a friend and he's using it too - the side of a clean shirt which I keep solely for this purpose. With this I take off all the moisture after rinsing my watch. It's lint-free, soft and very absorbent. Then I use Goddard's polishing cloth for silver and jewelery.How about you pals? All I did was drop a tiny hint.Perhaps sometimes I underestimate her, taking for granted what a wonderful woman I married. I dropped a hint and she said "you should buy the blue watch." So, tomorrow I order the new SMP 2222.80. I'll keep you all posted and i'll try to get some photos of the blessed event (it will be with a mediocre digital camera).KarlB

17j Waltham Vanguard project
Waltham's Vanguard grade was introduced right in the midst of the 1890s watch jewel wars. Although initially it was a very well finished 17j watch, the market for this sort of watch pretty quickly went away and the 17j versions were made in comparatively small numbers. For that reason, 17j Vanguards are very desirable and collectible today. A few months back, I was able to pick up a really nice 17j movement, but it was missing the dial and hands as well as not being cased. These early 1892 model Walthams are typically seen with a very specific style of double-sunk dial with the "American Waltham Watch Company" signature fully in script. A few weeks back, a friend sent me an auction number for a late Appleton, Tracy & Co movement with the correct early style dial on it. I bought that watch, put the early dial on my Vanguard, and put a period correct dial from my junk box on the AT&Co. I was able to resell the AT&Co for not much less than I paid for it, so in the end the dial

Another Re-dial Question ????
Ok, Found another unusal watch that is rather valuable, ( Warmans (2005) books it at $495 to $695).....and it runs just fine, my watch guy has been at it .....but to re-dial or not to re-dial that is the question.......sorry I wasn't paying attention to where the cursor was , but here's the movement the crystal has to be replaced it has those stress lines all around the bendy part of it.....the gold-filled case is in excellent condition ......scratches, but the only wear through is a teeny tiny bit on the very tip of the lugs.....I call it my "poor man's Thor"

Don't know if any of you spotted Scott's Pro 1 bracelet in the Sales forum recently, but when I did I thought it would be perfect on my SO. So, a few PM's later, a bit of currency exchange and a nervous wait for the courier to arrive later.I am the happy owner of a new SS bracelet for the watch. This also means I have the diver pro, the calfskin, and the SS bracelet for it, so can change the look to suit the occasion (or mood I'm in).Enough of the story, I know you just want the pics :D
