F.P. Journe Donates Auction Proceeds to Help Provide Homes in Japan
At Christie’s Hong Kong sale in May, the first all-aluminium F.P. Journe Centigraphe Sport No 001 sold for an extraordinary US$465,170, close to ten times its original estimate. The sale was to raise funds to aid victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The donation ceremony took place on June 3 at the Swiss Embassy in Tokyo. Gathered for the ceremony were the Ambassador Mr. Urs Bucher, Mr. Fran?ois-Paul Journe, Ms. Yuko Fukagawa from Christie¡¯s Japan, Mr Richard Bliah, founder of the Franco-Japanese FERE foundation, and the representative of M¨¦decins du Monde. With its program ¡®100 maisons pour 100 familles¡¯, the FERE Foundation is constructing temporary anti-seismic wooden houses to relocate families that are victims in the northern city of Tome.Fran?ois-Paul Journe said: ¡°I am tremendously happy that the charity sale of the Centigraphe Sport will contribute to bring relief aid to earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. Hi I recently purchased a 9c gold Longines watch (with a nice box) at an auction. It runs very smoothly and keeps good time.I am trying to date it, a watch shop was able to open the back and the serial number on the back of the case is 7297 1 68 .Can anyone help me to date it & also confirm it is not a fakeAny other info on the watch would be greatDavid

Hi TRF, I realize when I¡¯m active on the forum, I start buying. In the pass 4 weeks or so, I have purchased 4 Rolex¡¯s. You may have seen my post before or the purchase of the 116509 steel dial Daytona, followed by the Batman. This week Monday i pick up my first vintage Rolex, a Sub circa 1985. Thou I am not a vintage smart but I met Fred ¡°RED1108NYC¡±, whom share a lot of his knowledge with me in the purchase. Over all I¡¯m happy to with my purchase and since I¡¯m just starting into vintage I¡¯m only buy 1985, starting off with my birth year. Yesterday a second vintage arrived, watch was serial dates to 1984, but the original purchase receipt was 10/10/1985, thou its not my birthday but it¡¯s close. I decided to make the move to purchase it from John ¡°SPRINGER¡±. Yesterday was busy, just had the chance to try the watch and whoa for a 32 year old watch I can¡¯t believe the condition it was kept in. Very pleased. Again very please with my purchase from both TRF members, it is my first time buyi
