Cartier Cartier 8424 wrist watches news:
Well I had to stop into the local AD last night for something else, and was told they'd finally received the new Date-Just II. So of course I had to try it on. First impressions were pretty good, as I expected. Positives:The 41mm wears well, but not large. I expected it to wear larger, but it felt very similar to the Sub, only thinner. Vastly improved on my 8" wrist over the 36mm brother. The dimensions & balance of everything was very well done IMO. The new clasp is very similar to the Daytona's, having the quick-extend link for adding a mm or 2 when needed. With the solid center links balance was perfect. Dial, bezel & case size felt perfectly proportional. Unfortunately it wasn't the dial I'd really wanted to see, the slate with black / green roman markers. But it was still overall a very nice watch.Negatives: The big one - the $9,525 price. It's a lot of money for a watch that plays sport but can't play with it's rough & tough brothers like the Sub, and it

About 10 years ago, I got 3 watches at a yard sale for $15. One was an old Seamaster, one was an Elgin, and the last was a women’s Girard-Perregaux. It wasn’t much to look at. The crystal was scuffed and some of the “gold tone” had worn off. It looked a bit 70’s-ish and a bit cheap. I tossed it in a drawer.Reading a little bit on this site has got me wondering though. GP is certainly a venerable marque. Did they go downscale for awhile in the 70s with the advent of quartz movements, or were they able to maintain quality?Looked at carefully, the watch looks like it could actually clean up quite nicely. On close inspection, the case says “Goldplated 20” which I assume means 20 microns, so respectable. Thanks to my little $6.99 Buy.com toolkit I was able to get the back off. This reveals a 17-jewel unadjusted movement labeled Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic Swiss on the rotor. The movement is also labeled “866-808”, which I assume is the caliber. I have not really been able to find a

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums. Looking to get an AP Royal Oak 15400. What do you guys think? I don't plan on selling it (if new I'm worried about resale value), but I'd like to know I can if I really need to. Thanks in advance!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
