Gronefeld One Hertz 1912 Dead-Beat Seconds Watch
Tick tick tickmakes you think of a quartz watch right? WRONG! Well, at least in this case. This fancy little Dutchman is a dead-beat watch. No that the type of dead-beat that won't pay child support, but rather a mechanical watch with a ticking seconds hand. The hell you say!? Yes, it is true, quartz watches didn't invent the ticking hand. In fact, for a long time the dead-beat seconds hand has a unique use for certain watch owners, and was in itself a novel complication just like a regulator or anything else. I actually think it is very cool, and dead-beat second watches have the advantage of allowing you to know exactly when a second hits, as opposed to judging the progress of a sweeping seconds hand. However, (you know this however) dead-beat seconds watches are rare because no one watches them confused with a quartz timepiece! Trust me, you spend $10,000 and up on a dead-beat second watch, and you don't want people thinking you have merely a very pretty quartz timepieces.Though whe

baby PloProf 166.0250 ...
i recently purchased a NOS (new old stock) baby PloProf 166.0250 on eBay. upon receiving the watch i noticed that the date wheel was silver not white (the dial being black with white markings). this caused me to do a little research and i found that whilst the watch i have has a 1002 calibre movement, others have a 1010 calibre movement instead. also, the bezel appears to be different, mine having silver number and others having luminous numbers, a la the vintage seamaster 300. so, i'm rather left wondering whether this watch is built to the correct standard or whether it is in fact some sort of hybrid?

RIP my 8-Watch winder
Well, my 8-watch winder died a violent death today. I was moving stuff around the house & was relocating this to a different room. 1 misstep later it was at the bottom of the stairs. He was pronounced dead on the scene, so resuscitation efforts weren't even attemptedNeedless to say, I'm not a happy camper today.. Oh well- I guess it's time to start looking aroundHey Kevin, how much are those 'build it yourself' heads again???

Clicking when adjusting time
My Diver is acting up on me again. So when i try to adjust the time i could feel and hear clicking sound as if there is something blocking the crown every half turn. The clicking sound is similar to the sound when turning the bezel. I am worried and I think this would be my last AP.
