Gucci G-Timeless Sport Watch
Shouldn't the name of this watch be the Gucci "G-Time" versus "G-Timeless?" I mean of course I get what "timeless" means, but is that really a term you want as the name of a product that should not be "less time?" Perhaps I am thinking about it too much, but I really do feel that this little "minor" detail does matter when it comes to subconscious consumer perceptions about products. It isn't even timeless either. This dive-style watch looks to be squarely set in circa 1995 with its bold primary colors. Oh, you have got to love the Italians (and their flag). As much as I joke about it, I still do quite like this timepiece as a fashion watch. It is just sorta 'fun.'Gucci is watch maker I don't really discuss all that often. First of all, they don't make complicated watches. Off the top of my head I can't even think of a mechanical Gucci watch. Though they do have some which have that "G" as the bezel. For the most part I think of their attractive quartz watches for the ladies. All ladie

2 plain little PW's (Elgin, Waltham) that could turn out to be diamonds in the rough!
Went to the usual auction house today and they had a little surprise waiting for me!There was a box with approximately 50 watches/PW's in it. Unsurprisingly, I got it, for 45$ I was a little worried when I first went through it, since a good 2/3's of the watches were junk quartz or to horribly broken. But I did find a few gems, including a vintage Seiko 21 jewel, A Waltham automatic wristwatch and a few others.Anyway, these two were stuffed in there and at first I didn't investigate too much.They looked like plane-Jane watches that I've seen before.But, I think I was wrong to think that.I first took the Elgin, unscrewed the back and...WOAH! Now THAT is beautiful! I didn't expect that at all! I thought it was going to be like my other nickleoid Elgin, a little engraving at most..I know it's an older 17 jewel movement, and it's in beautiful shape! I don't have a crown for it so I don't know if she's working. I hope she is though.The Waltham was more of the same!The Waltham also isn't wor

This place is better than others in this respect (probably because we are not so busy - and it is a tight knit bunch) but I'll offer up the following for discussion regardless.Firstly I know the forum has rules. I see these as being different to manners or etiquette.I was thinking about the things that irritate me about certain posters and posts and thought I would start a topic for constructive discussion. Without naming any names (let's not start an argument) here are the things that annoy me:a) Post pics. If you are getting opinions on the shortlist you are considering then at least go to the effort of showing us the asthetics.b) Not responding or concluding as the OP. My pet hate. Asking other members to go to the time and trouble to help you (which watch within a remit is the classic) and then never concluding the thread by telling everyone what you did or responding to a few suggestions. I would ban these blood suckers if I was a mod! (That's why I shouldn't be a mod - amongst ot
