LVMH Acquires Majority Stake in Bulgari
In a deal that was finalized last night, France’s LVMH will acquire the Bulgari family¡¯s majority shareholding in Bulgari S.p.A. LVMH will issue 16.5 million shares in exchange for the 152.5 million Bulgari shares currently held by the Bulgari family, making them the second largest family shareholder of the LVMH Group. The deal is valued at €3.7 billion, or about $5.19 billion. The offer valued Bulgari’s shares at a 60% premium over its average share price during the past 30 days. The deal will double LVMH’s watch and jewelry business.Paolo and Nicola Bulgari will remain Chairman and Vice Chairman of Bulgari¡¯s board of directors. The Bulgari family will appoint two new representatives to the LVMH board of directors. Bulgari CEO Francesco Trapani will join the LVMH executive committee and will manage the LVMH watches and jewelry division in the second half of 2011. Current division head Philippe Pascal will remain on the LVMH executive committee in a different capacity

Swatch Canada Repair Story
So my Longines Moonphase was sick. I took it off the winder one day and it had stopped there was a screw rolling around in the bottom of the display back. As this is my go-to work watch, I missed it greatly. [Here's a pic. The loose screw isn't visible I didn't take any pics of the damage.]I took it to my AD, who said he would send it to Swatch. But then he remembered I work pretty close to the Swatch Canada offices. He said I'd likely get it taken care of quicker if I took the watch in directly. Boy was he right.I went there on a lunch break. It's nice office space. The waiting room has some leather chairs and a huge window into their workspace. Through it you can see the watchmakers at their high desks in their white lab coats. I pressed the ringer and a man came out to see me. I showed him the loose screw and the warranty card, and he said to grab a chair and wait a few minutes.He went into the back and eventually I saw him pass the watch in to a watchmaker behind the

We have a midsize auto Bond Seamaster 300 that suddenly stopped after 18 months with no advance warning. It will have to be sent to one of the dreaded service centers under warranty.I have an opportunity to get a mid-sized Planet Ocean Orange as a replacement for $2,100.00 from Jareds. But the catch is that its pre-owned and you do not get a box or cards, but you do get a one year store warranty.Any thoughts as to this arrangement?
