COMCO: Swatch Group Can Stop Mechanical Movement Sales in 2020
Switzerland¡¯s Competition Commission (COMCO) has approved a plan allowing the Swatch Group to reduce gradually sales of mechanical movements to companies outside the group over the next six years, and to halt sales completely in 2020. On the related ¨C and even more controversial ¨C issue of sales of escapements, the regulating organ in a mechanical watch, COMCO left in place its July 12 ruling that it is ¡°premature¡± to allow any reductions in Swatch Group sales of those key components.The Swatch Group issued no formal reaction to the decision on mechanical movements. But it is a clear victory for the company, which declared its intention to stop selling mechanical movements and parts in late 2009. A few weeks ago we gave you an early look at the Monoposto, the first mechanical watch from Autodromo, a cool, well-conceived upstart based right here in NYC. Inspired by mid-century Italian grand prix cars, the Monoposto combines serious motoring heritage with very wearable style. Today we give you a hands-on look at this limited edition automatic.At 43mm, the Monoposto is starting to get up there in size, but it wears nicely. The tapered case sits nicely on the wrist and the thin, turned bezel makes the watch appear a millimeter or two smaller than it really is. The wire lugs might make changing straps a little fiddly, but they are pitched at just the right angle to keep the watch sitting nicely. Question no one can answer
I've been going back and forth with the idea of buying either a 2231 or a 2254 and I got some great feedback from many of you here. As I was reading various posts about these watches I found some people who made modifications to their watches. Such as adding a white gold bezel, changing a dial etc. So I called some authorized repair shops and some shops that work on Omegas just to ask them if a black 2254 bezel will fit on a 2231. Nobody would tell me yes or no. Some said they had to have the watch and the bezel before they could tell me if it would work. I understand that some will not do this because it's modifying the original watch, I get that. But aren't the watch dimensions something that is known or can be looked up somewhere. I have never been apart of a forum until now so I hope I am posting this in the right spot. It is an elgin usa....from what I can see from WWI??? Not completely sure though. It looks to be gold over sterling. It has USN on it which I am thinking is United States Navy. It has initials J.A on the back. With Speidel USA band. Help me out here? I am a collector of knives and know nothing about watches besides what I have listed which I am unsure how valid it is. If you have any info let me know or if you can redirect me to a different site that would be awesome.

AP RO Ceramic diver or SS?
Hi. I'm thinking that trade my AP RO SS diver to upgrade to Ceramic Diver. Have anyone seen the AP ceramic diver in a real life? How do you think of it? . Is it worth to trade in? Or should I keep the SS and add another ceramic to my collection :) Thanks
