Cartier W20.126.X8 wrist watches news:
Does anyone use their Rolex for what it was designed to do? Example:1) Does anyone use their sub in anything deeper than a 6ft pool, or washing dishes? 2) Does anyone use their Daytona to time anything other than burgers on a BBQ, or a car trip to grandma's? 3) Has anyone actually worn their yacht-master in anything other than a speed boat?4) Has anyone actually climbed a mountin while wearing an Explorer?5) Etc, Etc, Etc.I own 3 Subs, and don't even wear it in the shower. Just curious? Bob
I think many of you know, that my collection tries to start with the beginning of the 'wrist watch''a date that to this day not truly known in 'Horology' We know by about 1840, was the start of the mass market 'Pocket' watch. We know that 'officers' started to wear 'converted' pocket watches during the Boar War (1898 -1903) We 'believe' that 'first' wrist watches worn by men started @ 1904/5. - Now in many cases these were either converted pocket watches with wire lugs attached, or a wrist watch 'fashioned' in the style of the previous generation pocket watch, again with wire lugs.As part of this transition, we continued to see (for various) reasons the influence of the pocket watch, like an example here of my 'half hunter' wrist watches, either as converted pocket 1/2 Hunter.Like this 1895 Omega:Or a wrist watch made, but fashioned as a 1/2 Hunter.Like this 1908 Rolex:[B]There we have 'Half Hunter's' - Rare, and very early (say 1905 to 1915)But what is ever 'scarcer' which is a FULL H
I mean if i hit the watch on something (e.g wall) will it break?Cause many upscale brands use it nowadays...
Well we had a thread recently about AP and accuracy. I've monitored my three AP's over the last two weeks and I've been surprised. All were worn in regular rotation and left on a Wolf 3 watch winder when not on my wrist. Not counting seconds, all were spot on the correct minute. So much for a pattern of poor accuracy. Let's have a poll.
Why?
