Hi,my name is Simon, I'm from London and I guess I've been a closet WIS for many years. I remember taking my first watch apart when I was 11, removing the dial and 'modifying' it so whenever you wound it, the second hand span round furiously, stopping randomly (don't worry - the watch was already dead when I did this to it).I loved the workings of watches and always wanted a skeleton watch.For many many years I made do with seikos, casios and a few swatchs, all fantastic watches but never quite being the 'one'. I met my first Rolex when I was 22 (a sub-mariner) and realised I wanted one.In 2002 I was fortunate to be left some money when my grand parents passed away and I decided I wanted to buy something permanent to remember them. REVIEW REDEUX: The Rolex Submariner 16613
Greetings Rolex Fans!I should have my hot little hands on the new Rolex Submariner 116613 some time next week, courtesy of Rolex USA. So look for a review next weekend.Until then, I thought I'd go through an update my review of the the Submariner 16613 (which the 116613 replaces). Two 5711s, 1.5 years apart, and look totally different.
Hey guys. I hope everyone is having a pleasant day.So I will make this story as short as possible.I hunted and purchased a brand new 5711 from a guy (now my good friend) in Singapore about 1.5 years ago.I love everything about the 5711, and that was why I decided to see if I would have a chance to get one with my name on the papers.I am primarily a vintage collector, and I would have loved for my few(and my favourite) modern watches to have my name on the papers as sentimental value when being passed down.Not a deal breaker, but it did not hurt to put my name down assuming I would never get called.Fast forward a long time later, I got the call.I had to pursue. The watch is purchased from my home town, and has my name on it. Previous would have a relative as a buyer, so not worried on that aspect.Quickly after strapping it on, I noticed it looked very different from my previous 5711. Rolex Magazine Ads
I'm a newbie to this forum as I recently purchased my first Rolex, a 114060. Prior to the purchase, I spent nearly a year studying the history of the brand as I felt like it was a prerequisite for ownership. Anyway, in my research I was always drawn to the magazine advertisements of today as well at those from a half century ago. The ads are just flat out motivating.
