For 2015, TW Steel has finally released a mechanical version of their Canteen collection timepiece, known simply as the TW Steel Canteen Automatic. This month on watches-dealer, you can enter to win one. The TW Steel Canteen Automatic comes in 45mm-wide and 50mm-wide styles which are watch reference numbers CS35 and CS36, respectively. This giveaway is for the larger 50mm-wide CS36 model. The steel case is called the Canteen because of the screw-down crown protector which when on its side makes the watch look like a traditional camping or military water canteen.Inside the watches are Japanese Miyota caliber 8215 automatic mechanical movements with the time and date. Citizen Eco-Drive Scuba Fin Chronograph Watch
Just in time for heading to the beach this summer, Citizen has released a new Eco-Drive model in their Scuba Fin lineup.The new model (CA0515-02L) isn't a massive departure from the earlier Eco-Drive Scuba Fin models, but it does have some freshened looks, sporting a blue (or orange) dial that earlier iterations don't quite have. Don't forget there is a chronograph as well. That blue also carries over to the 26mm polyurethane strap. While this looks like it would be a fine enough material for hitting the water, it does give me some pause for concern. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it does look like the strap is integrated directly to the lugs - which means replacement options are limited, a strike in my book.But enough about that - on to the good things in the watch. However, we've got a first look at it for you, right now, and it's something you might not have expected. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Piaget's in-house quartz caliber 7P – the company's first in-house quartz movement – it has released a hybrid quartz/mechanical caliber in its Emperador. Caliber 7P by the way was a very important step for Piaget and its small size (especially relative to the first commercial Swiss quartz caliber, Beta 21) made it possible for the firm to do amazing pieces like this one. The new caliber 700P is very different, however: it uses a conventional mechanical going train, powered by a micro rotor that winds the mainspring.
