Hello all, I was recently tasked with finding out as much as possible about this watch, a gift to my mother some thirty years ago. I dare not try to open it, so apologies for the lack of details. Other than the name on the face, the only other exterior marking is "14K" on the back case. A couple of questions about automatics...
Fortunately, I learned that it is not good to change the date within a few hours of midnight before doing so.Question 1: My assumption is, however, that it would be okay to change the date forward during those hours by changing the time past midnight, then setting the time? It seems that the gears would be doing what they are designed to do, just faster. It's my understanding that the reason you aren't supposed to change the date during those hours is that there are gears that are engaged and the "date gear" shouldn't be moved by itself while engaged with the "time gear". I'm SURE that if I have the basic idea correct, I've extremely oversimplified it.Question 2: How much of a pain is it to change the day/date on a Seiko Orange Monster? I assume if it was stopped, and you didn't know if it was stopped at an a.m. or p.m. time, you'd have to set it forward a day using the time setting, then set it to a time that wasn't within the "don't change the date" time range, change the day a

Cant buy a Patek
I own two Rolexes then decided to get a nice Patek I am only interested in sports models Aquanaut or Nautilus and seems its impossible to get in the UK I contacted many dealers with no response or watch is unavailable not even info how long to order one not really interested in second hand either as this will be my first special piece and grey dealers want a massive premium I have seen one 5167 steel on a rubber preowned for ¡ê19000 Don't know what to do maybe its not meant to be.

GMT Day/Night Bezel Question
BLNR is incoming. I understand the GMT function and think it¡¯s great. Also very useful for me. However, I don¡¯t understand the day/night bezel. Can someone please explain this? I haven¡¯t been able to find an explanation anywhere; I¡¯ve only found statements of fact that it works as a day/night indicator.Without having actually held the watch, it seems to me that using the hour hand would indicate day/night in reference to hours 3-9AM/PM and vice versa. This doesn¡¯t seem to indicate day/night IMO so perhaps I¡¯m missing something?
