Luminous watch face question - just wondering
While my Submariner is in for service, I'm stuck wearing an old Casio divers watch I purchased 24 years ago. After adding a new battery it still works great. It too, by the way, has been a great watch. Purchased right after high school graduation, worn thru 4 years in the military and beyond. Anyway...I notice that even after 24 years the face glows significantly brighter than my Submariner does. After about 12 years +/- the Sub started loosing some of it's brightness. Normal from what I've read. My questions is why does a cheap-o $30 Casio still glow so bright after 24 years and the Rolex started to peter out after about half that time?Would the fact that the Casio was in a dark jewlery box for most of the last 17 years be the reason? Is it time or "mileage" (the actual amount of time the luminescent material is actually glowing that effects this??Just curious...I understand different watch makers use different substances for this purpose, but how could Casio afford to use a s

Strap Storage Solution
I was looking for a handy way to store my strap collection. If you have a watch collection you need a strap collection, right??I found this on ebay. It's designed to hold 20 watches/bracelets, but it will also hold 40 straps very nicely.It measures 10 inches by 15 inches, ( 25 cm by 38 cm) and when closed is 1.25 inches ( 3.2 cm ) thick.Best of all it cost me less then the price of an average strap.

what do you think of luminox and technomarine??

Hi all,Thought I'd share the new purchase. Ck2998 to go with the speedy pro and couple of Rolex that I have. Really like it. For now, strap only as don't have a bracelet but that's no prob as both of the Rolex and my speedy pro live on theirs so it's a nice change and a dress up for the suit.I know this watch doesn't get much love, but as a value proposition I think it's just about fine compared to the speedy with the sapphire and the ceramic. I did pay slightly over list, but that's the way of the world in the U.K. As we stand and I'm actually pretty pleased I got it for where I did. Wears slightly smaller than the pro, and achieves the vintage/dressy look pretty well imo.I will get a couple of new straps. I love the blue, but to avoid a blue overload may get a brown and a nylon/cordura. I will also invest eventually in a bracelet although they are tough to find. It's amazing. Stopped into London Jewelers in Southampton today. Had the sub, sub date, DSSD, polar explorer and all Milgauss models. Pretty light on DJ 41¡¯s though. Did not buy anything but good selection for members seeking one of these references.
