Chopard 168961-3005 wrist watches news:
Good day every1, I'm a newly found watch addict who started on another site and was told about this forum. It looks very nice here.So a little about me: Im Vincent, 25 yo, from Montreal, Canada. I'm currently studying at the University of Montreal finishing my bachelors in Political science and then, I'll be starting my second and final race in University in Law. I also, like QT, work in a bank, part timeThe better bank! To finance my new addiction, as if cell phones, electronics and clothes werent draining all of my $ already! I love to play hockey, started playing in ligues when I was 4 yo, and never stopped since. The road has been long and painful, over 15 fractures, and it's not over yet, I still play in a recreational ligue with most of the guys I played with. (Watch out arthritis coming my way HARD) lolI always liked watches, even when I was a kid, but recently, right before my 25th bday, I decided it was time to get a real watchIt was my gift to ME! And I jumped in, after a lo
will you be watching the date wheel on your iwc turn to 2008 or will you be kissing your signifigant other?tough choice i know but this may tell where your love truly lies "it only turns once a year honey, i'll kiss your right after..." happy new year to all, tony
The wheel train of a watch is a series of reduction gears designed to transfer energy from the mainspring to the escapement. It is comprised of several components that pass along the energy in order: the mainspring barrel (technically the 1st wheel), the center wheel & pinion (the 2nd wheel but also not called by that name), the 3rd wheel & pinion, the 4th wheel and pinion, and the escape wheel & pinion. The wheel is brass; the pinion is the smaller gear:Here's how the center, 3rd and 4th wheel mesh in place:The train helps govern the torque of the mainspring and allows the power to be spread out over a long period of time by releasing it in small increments. The size of and number of teeth on each wheel & pinion is determined by it's function. That individual ratio must also be part of the larger equation where 1 revolution of the center wheel occurs for every 18,000 vibrations of the balance & hairspring assembly. Of course, the ratios will change if the freq
I have heard anecdotally from friends - 2 of them say they never have to manually wind their daily-wear automatic, unless of course they take it off for a couple of days. Just the occasional time reset which they are OK with. One standout is a guy who for a very short time had a used Rolex automatic of unknown history, many years ago, who claimed it would "die on the wrist" if not wound every so often, had to set the time "all the time" - and being in his 20's at the time opted for a nice quartz Omega without bothering to even try to get the Rolex fixed. What is your experience? Should an Rolex-level-quality automatic "never" require winding if worn daily, assuming it's well-maintained and not many decades old?
Hi guys,I'm interested in a vintage piece, probably a Seamaster from the '50's or '60's. Can any of you recommend known sites for definite authenticity? I came across this site in the UK that looks and sounds great - has anyone used it?.vintage-watches-collection/Many thanks
