Patrizzi to Auction Historic Original Breguet Manuscripts on May 7
On May 7 in Geneva, Patrizzi & Co. will auction a historic manuscript written between 1818 and 1823, during the last years of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s life. The document, which recently resurfaced, chronicles Breguet’s horological innovations, the history of his firm, watch calibers and complications, and his overall philosophy and designs. Breguet dictated the text to his assistant Louis Moinet and edited and noted corrections by hand. Breguet died in 1823 before it could be completed. “It is hard to stress the importance of this event to the world and more specifically to the horological world,” said Osvaldo Patrizzi, chairman and CEO of Patrizzi & Co. “These are the writings of the master of horology, the knowledge his lifetime ¨C from which we can learn many details that we have until today only been able to speculate on. Hello Chaps, with the great assistance of TempoKing, I finally pulled the trigger on a GMT Master II that I have been chewing on for a year or so since I sold the Explorer II that I Bought from Gagan (another S&G). Great transactions with both and thrilled to have a Rolex back on my wrist. TempoKing even put in my green date wheel gratis. What a guy!!!The build quality of fit and finish of Rolex just puts a smile on my face. I work in aviation and what we can do with metal is just incredible and probably slants my view of manufacturing and metal finishes. I didn't think the Explorer really suited me. But I am loving the GMT and the PSLs. I have many pilot friends with various GMTs and coveted them. No longer!
