Omega De Ville X2 Big Date Watch Available On James List
This sure isn't an Omega watch you see every day. In fact, I am not even sure how widely watches like this square cased De Ville X2 are sold in America. This piece is only a few years old and comes in a few versions - I think it is still sold in retail stores. This model is the Omega De Ville X2 Big Date. Seen here in steel, it also comes in in gold as well. I am a bit fascinated by the design as it is highly unusual compared to what people in the US think of when they consider Omega watches.Familiar with the "California dial" that mixes Roman numerals on one side of the dial and Arabic ones on another? Well this watch plays with that concept in another watch. The "X2" for sample is Omega's way of writing "12." Just like "V1" is "6" (as opposed to VI). Hamilton Twins?
I just acquired a stainless steel Swiss movement non-automatic Hamilton that looks identical to the Accumatic. Pictures are attached. The Accumatic is the watch with the metal band, and the new watch has a black leather band. The Accumatic has a thicker case and bezel to accommodate the automatic movement, but the cases are otherwise identical. I cannot find this watch in the Rondeau book.The Cabot, has a similar case. However, the dial on the new watch appears to be original, and does not include the word "automatic," so I don't think the dial or the movement were switched. For what it is worth, the Accumatic has a 672 movement, and the manual wind has a 671 movement.Can anyone ID this Hamilton model?

FYI: if you're ever in geneva, and you consider yourself a watch nut, you owe it to yourself to go to the Patek Philippe museum. its collection of timepieces, which ranges from the 16th century to today, is unmatched anywhere in the world. three floors of pateks, breguets and hundreds upon hundreds of other masterpieces, including early 19th century automatons that will absolutely blow your mind. (the bird gun may be one of the greatest achievements of design and engineering known to man).seriously - if you're even close to switzerland, make a side trip. you'll be glad you did!

Hong Kong a bust...
Read all the posts about the shortages on sport models, but didn't want to believe it. Really thought I could pick up a new Z-Blue Milgauss or an Explorer II or maybe get extremely lucky with a Ceramic Daytona, but have gone to 6 Rolex Boutiques, 3 on the Kowloon side and 3 on the HK island side and they are all out of just about every sport model. It looks really weird because a whole section of their case is empty, with the exception of maybe a solid white gold Sky Dweller or a solid yellow gold Yachtmaster II, or a two tone rose gold Yachtmaster II. Going to keep looking, but not optimistic
