Ebel Ebel 31518 wrist watches news:
The intersection of politics and popular culture with wristwatches is undeniably fascinating. I mean, that's basically why I have a job. Equally fascinating is the pursuit of these timepieces at the center of this interesection by watch collectors, dealers, and auction houses. There are a handful of documented important wrist and pocket watches out there that the world at large is still looking for. What I mean by that is they have not been publicly sold or located, like say Eric Clapton's platinum 2499, Gandhi's Zenith pocket watch, or Steve McQueen's 5512 Submariner (we won't get into his seemingly never ending supply of Monacos), though we know they exist via a blurry old 35mm photograph, or word of mouth. This is a short list of twelve watches that we know to exist, have serious interest in, but have seemingly gone missing. Hello guys! Months ago I've read somewhere that Parnis watches were selling on ebay under different name (movement name or something???). Could anyone tell me which name, because I forgot. Thanx!
As some of you may have read on one of my previous posts, I recently acquired a Speedmaster Solar Impulse (HB-SIA). A beautiful and highly functional watch. But to my surprise, I noticed that the font on the date wheel, did not look anything like the pictures I had seen online. Not only that, I had read a comment in a popular watch blog about how nice it was that Omega had decided to use the same font on the date wheel as used everywhere else on the watch. Bam! That made me think that I might had a dud.(See first pic below, the 8 on the date is completely round, as opposed to the very angular numbers elsewhere on the watch.)I called Omega Customer Service to explain the situation, and at first, they basically thought I was nuts. HOW would Omega install the WRONG date wheel???? Impossible!!! After a heated conversation, and sending pictures of my watch vs the images on the Omega website, the service rep finally agreed to contact Bienne for their feedback. As I had hoped,
What an amazing watch. Every time I put it on I wear it for a long time. It still catches my eye on what a wonderful made watch it is. Just imagine what it's like to see through a space suit as you see the world just below you from so high above. It has so much history and the design is so old but is so timeless. And one tough guy to be on every adventure you have. What a piece of history. Timeless is the best word for it. It looks at you with wide eyes with how big the display is. Good stuff.
What if Rolex really have stopped 126600 production and what if March sees the new SD43 with an all white text dial?(Not that I believe either of those have/will happen, but play along with me) That would give us say 10 months production of the Single Red 50th Anniversary Sea Dweller. And probably all manufactured in 2017, the anniversary year. Would that make a Single Red SD43 the shortest variant production run in Rolex history?Or have there been shorter runs of a variant in the past?
