If you're a regular reader of Worn&Wound, then you're surely aware of our penchant for well-engineered tool watches. Pilot's watches and those inspired by aviation are some of our favorite within that category, and with brands like Sinn, Damasko, and Bremont leading the pack there is certainly a lot to like. But within the world of micro-brands, these types of watches are few and far in-between, with dive watches being the ones generally getting the tool-watch treatment. The Air Controller from TWCO takes a step toward balancing the playing field.But before we get to the watch, let's talk a bit about the brand. Well, we kind of knew this was coming, we just didn't know when. This is the Shawn Carter By Hublot Classic Fusion, a new limited edition watch designed by Mr. Carter himself and produced by Hublot. But before we get into this new watch, let's go through a bit of the back story.? Jay Z means a lot to watches, and one could venture to say that watches mean a lot to him.? He's been a Rolex guy from some of his earliest verses, and he was one of the very first to have the foresight, along with the folks at Audemars Piguet, to work on a limited edition, personality-driven timepiece. He was an AP friend and client for years, and even signed and donated his own AP tourbillon to charity. The Little Enicar......
I just got this about 10 days ago, and it's first outing was to the Treasure Island Flea.......and 3 young ladies, ( I'm guessing college age) came up and were looking at the watches, ....the middle girl was wearing a dive watch wider than her wrist......and she spotted the Enicar......and loved it at first site....Then I told her the story about Racine/Enicar.....and her eyes really lit up ," My name is Racine !" and nothing would do but that she had to have that watch ......we considered bands for it ...and picked out a fire engine red leather band ......and it looked cute ......That girl walked away admiring her wrist as she went ......and her 2 friends were telling her....."Oh that's sooooo cool, and sooooo cute" Well, it made my day, at least right up until at the very closing of the show at 4 PM Sunday a guy who had been drooling over the solid white gold Wittnauer with the re-dial, came and paid me 5 $100 dollar bills for it ! beats selling on ebay all to pieces.......
