a perfectly good vintage Longines:1) take a very nice condition watch that's not from any particular series, and write something in cursive on the dial to try to turn it into something it's not:Vintage Automatic 1960s Men Longines Conquest Rose Gold - eBay (item 170488136571 end time Jun-17-10 15:06:21 PDT) Whoever did that should be hung from a yardarm.2) take a nice movement from the 50's and put it in a case from the 60's with a dial from the late 70's or 80's:cgi.ebay/Vintage-Longines...#ht_500wt_1154
I decided to play around with the camera this afternoon since my wife was busy baking. I didn't spend a lot of time on it so the watch has some smudges and the focus isn't perfect on some of the shots. I was just having some fun without any tripods or special lighting (unless you count the heat lamps from our kitchen range hood). Since everyone likes pictures I thought I would post them and I threw in a little something to wet the appetite as well.Hammy feelin the heatPartially finished cake...the wife's artwork
I just have to choose the coral Wilshire today. I'm going to take the wife out someplace nice for dinner tonight so I may as well wear something special.
It took only two days to arrive. I ordered it late on the night of the 24th, and it arrived at about 1:30PM today. The only reason I didn't get photos up earlier is that I had an evening class to go to.I had intimated to Dennis, in a PM, that I was concerned because the model L3.649.4.16.6 41mm Automatic was described in the ad as having a "silver" dial, while the L3.648.4.16.6 39mm Auto and the L3.650.4.16.6 41mm Chrono were both described as having a white dial. I wanted the white dial and I told Dennis that I was hoping that I was figuring right when I took the "silver" to mean white, which I had deduced by the model no.s of the other two 16.6s. I was right!! I also learned by studying the Longines model numbers, that the 649, in this case, indicated the 41mm version since 648 was the number of the 39mm. I'm learning! In addition to ulackfocus, I want to also give a great big thanks to Wombat! Both of you guys really were a tremendous help to me. Thanks, I love my first Longines pur
I bought my first G-shock watch. It's a Mudman and seems pretty nice.It has only one problem. On the back, there are 5 hard rubber studs or buttons. Even under no pressure at all, they would dig into my skin hard. It's a major discomfort. What are they for and how do I get rid of them?
