Let's say some angel investor gives you enough money to start your own watch-making company. You're in charge; there are no strings attached other than you must use the money for watch-making. What do you do? Specifically...What do you call your company? What watches do you make? Sport, dress, luxury, some blend of all of these?In-house movements or Miyota, ETA, Sea-Gull, or some other source?Do you use celebrity spokespeople? If so, who?How do you handle counterfeiting? If you get big enough, it's gonna happen. - Now, for my answers. -I'd call it Semper Eadem - Latin; 'ever the same'.I'd make sport watches like the Seiko line.In-house all the way. That way I control all aspects of production.I don't know who the contemporary celebs are, and I don't care. I'm vaguely aware of Kelly Bensimon and the Kardashians, but I honestly have no idea who they are or why they are so famous.I'd handle counterfeiting aggressively. I won't be a douche and clamp down on the legal grey market,
Would you go through this hassle personally?Owning a 5167 that I wear and enjoy, and have had for a few months. It was Double sealed when I bought it, however did not have my name on the papers as I bought it from a trusted seller. I did get a better than retail price for it, and really wanted the watch.I have the option of obtaining a BNIB from a retailer, which I could have my name on.Would you go through this hassle?I would lose money of course, as my Patek won't sell for the same price I will buy the brand new one for. I will also have to find a buyer, ship it, etc. Never sold a watch on TRF, so I guess my best bet would be to sell to a trusted seller, meaning I would be offered quite a bit less than what they usually sell for.My 5167 is in flawless condition.I never ever even look at the paper work or boxes of any of my owned watches, but wondering if it is worth the hassle.Part of me says I doubt my kids would care if the papers has my name. I also am certain that I will have many
Hi guys, here is a report of my purchase of the PP Nautilus Ref: 5711/1A-010. A quick background about myself regarding the watches I have had the pleasure of owning so far, which includes an AP RO, a couple of PAMs, Rolex Sub, GMT, Explorer, Daytona, Bremont, JLCs, Zeniths, Breitlings, Stowas, IWCs. So hopefully that adds some credibility to what I say! I purchased this from David Reeves at the London Patek Salon on Bond Street and it was a great pleasure to deal with him!! I initially called the salon around 1 month ago regarding the Nautilus and at the time they did not have one in stock but said they can put my name down on the list. 2 weeks later, they call me and say that its arrived from Switzerland, still vacuum packed and sealed!! So after searching around for others, I decided that I will go for the one at the boutique, they can hold a watch for you for 7 days so that gave me enough time to search around. Unfortunately I could not locate any near me so I just decided to go fo
