Franck Muller 8880C CC DT wrist watches news:
Just curious, would anyone postphone purchasing decision unitl they announce what they are doing for 175th anniversary.I was almost set on getting a 5146 but 175th anniversary doesn't seem that far away....
what a beautifull watch !
I don't know why, but I seem to come across some decent deals on watches on my wish list at this time of year. I was discussing what I should look for next with a few other vintage collectors from various forums after showing off (well, what else would you call it?) the 1968 Omega Seamaster 321. Todd (huntershooter) threw out an IWC caliber 89, which immediately went on the list. I miss having one after selling my stainless version last year and I vowed to replace it with a gold version sometime this year. I've also talked quite a few times about a vintage JLC Memovox now that I know how incredible Le Sentier's work is on their own watches. That hunt is coming along nicely and I'm about confident enough in my knowledge of the various case reference numbers and which dial/hand combos they match up with. You would be shocked at how many slight variation there are! Luckily I have some good photos for reference. Anyway, that is another on the short list of 3. Which brings me to
...yesterday when I came home I found a little package in my mail box.It was sent to me by my friend Scoot_D.....His 'spare PARNIS" that was giving himtrouble and was replaced with another one. He was kind enough and just sent it to me for free as he knew I was on a hunt for a pilot style watch. THANKS, BUDDY !!I love it !! Not sure if it was banged up pretty good in the mail ;), but right now it isrunning just fine and not showing any sings of erratic behavior that he was experiencing. In fact it is running only +4 seconds since I set it at about 7PM last night !!It is very impressive, nice and clear dial and the balance bridge and someminimal circular finishing of rotor and the plates is rather surprising at this price level.I believe they run about $90 or so. IMO a great bang for the money for a 'fun watch'.I switched to a spare 24 PAM bracelet and the watch is even better. Thanks again pal, the beers are on me at the next GTGs !!:D
I'm a college student on a budget thinking of buying one since i love the look and the price is relatively inexpensive. What can you tell me to persuade me either way? Are there other similar watches I should look at? thanks! -Jordan M.
