- The watch is a little ger than I expected and it wasn't something I needed but what can I say. IT'S COOL. The only negative is that it has a tendency to open up when bumped.

I think many of you know, that my collection tries to start with the beginning of the 'wrist watch''a date that to this day not truly known in 'Horology' We know by about 1840, was the start of the mass market 'Pocket' watch. We know that 'officers' started to wear 'converted' pocket watches during the Boar War (1898 -1903) We 'believe' that 'first' wrist watches worn by men started @ 1904/5. - Now in many cases these were either converted pocket watches with wire lugs attached, or a wrist watch 'fashioned' in the style of the previous generation pocket watch, again with wire lugs.As part of this transition, we continued to see (for various) reasons the influence of the pocket watch, like an example here of my 'half hunter' wrist watches, either as converted pocket 1/2 Hunter.Like this 1895 Omega:Or a wrist watch made, but fashioned as a 1/2 Hunter.Like this 1908 Rolex:[B]There we have 'Half Hunter's' - Rare, and very early (say 1905 to 1915)But what is ever 'scarcer' which is a FULL H
I have owned a Cartier Santos quartz watch since 1994 and have never given the place from where the movement was sourced very much thought. The watch has always performed perfectly. It has been serviced by Cartier a couple of times but I have mainly just had the battery replaced as and when it was needed. I have been doing a little research lately and have been informed by a few people that the movement for the Cartier quartz watches was a relatively cheap Japanese generic unit until fairly recently. Don't get me wrong I still love the watch but if the information I have received is correct I feel that a very high percentage of the cost was for the name on the dial.
Need some advice from you guys !I got a phonecall from a AP boutique that a ROO Schumacher Ti will be available to me, as I has shown some interest in it to them, some weeks ago.I assume that I wont be able to get a discount, (Lim ed) so I will have to come up with 41300 CHF (44700$/33490€). The only advantage is that I can get the 8% Swiss VAT tax back.I was wondering if that piece is really worth his price, is it maybe overpriced ? will it have a price drop in the near future ?Help me out here ...
I have just returned my 5205G back to Patek for them to carry out some warranty work. Basically the DAY pusher is sticking in when pushed and so the day doesn't change over, unless you then manually wind the watch past midnight. When that happens the pusher then springs back out.Anyway, back to the question. While the watch is with them at the UK service centre, if asked, do you think they would exchange the darker dial & W/G silver hands for the lighter dial and the darker hands, which I believe are still made from W/G, but somehow treated to make them darker in colour? And if they do any idea what they would charge?Thank you.RegardsTony
