Franck Muller 8880 CC AT 5N wrist watches news:

just received an email from my goodole' friend Micah. The straps are on the way. I cant' wait !! :)
Will post more pictures, probably a short review as the day gets dimmer. Now it's too bright to take any nice shots..This is my neighbourhood as the backdrop. Ikarus is one of the few pieces I am totally drawn to it since the day I sa it, seeing it finally in person just confirms I have good taste and judgment..LOL HAHA. (kidding) A very light weight piece to wear, the strap is so comfortable and soft, it's like sleeping on a nice soft feathery bed.
I am in the grips of a watch funk.I just cruised my local uber-posh mall visiting Tourneau and several exclusive jewelers looking at various luxury watches.Came away depressed - they all look the same! If it weren't for the name on the dial, you couldn't tell one brand from another. There were two standouts: The Corum Golden Bridge (ala Invicta Sapphire Ghost only much sleeker and more elegant) and a ChronoSwiss Opus (a skeletonized beauty). One surprise: I examined a Chopard white dial classic 3-hand - very similar to my IWC Portofino and several German watches owned by WTF members. Nice fit and finish - but no screwed in caseback on a $4,000 watch! My IWC has tiny recessed screws to hold the case closed. I was amazed the Chopard didn't have a similar feature.Anyway, it seems watch design - or me - is stuck in a real rut. I've been feeling this way for several months.Perhaps that's why I'm drawn to my funky Clercs.Oh well...Thanks for putting up with my mini rant - or whining!
About a month ago I had a chance to catch up with an old friend of mine who is a fellow watch lover... We seem to share similar tastes in watches; as we both own a 5146 and an AP 15300 Black Dial. However, he also had this beautiful Calatrava in Rose Gold which he let me wear for most of the time we were together... and ever since then I was hooked... I just wanted to add one to my collection. I found the Rose Gold just perfect and subtle with its warm tone.My friend's Calatrava:So a few days ago I came across this beautiful Rose Gold Calatrava based AC, the 5396R and the price seemed just right. I couldn't pass on the opportunity and today am a proud owner of this beautiful time piece.I think it will make a great addition along side my 5146G.Thank you for sharing in my joy...Happy Watching...
