Franck Muller 1751QZ D wrist watches news:
I just purchased a TYMC timing machine from Orbita and it is a great little device. Below is an image of my GMT 116710 on the machine. By the looks of it, no regulation is required. In actuality, the watch gains about 1-2 seconds a week. This is the screen with the 116710 face up. The S/d is standard deviation / Day. The 308 degrees is amplitude, and the beat error is .1ms, very well within specification.A great manual that describes all the timing variables is posted by Witchi at witschi/e/produkte/?sub=6&cat=11. I have also updated my Rolex regulation page at minus4plus6/regulation.htmCheers,-Sheldon
Nothing fancy, just a random purchase while at the mall early this week. I must say however that for a relatively inexpensive watch, I am very impressed with it. I own a few Orient watches, and I find the metal bracelets usually feel rather cheap, but that's not the case at all with this watch. In fact, I would say that the stock bracelet is nicer and weightier than the stock bracelet that comes with the Orange Monster, and the overall quality of the watch in general is on par. Despite it's large size (44mm) I find that it sits extremely comfortably on my 6.75 inch wrist perhaps because of it's rather low profile. It came in a few color combinations, I chose the blue with red highlights/24-hour hand, but I also saw a black dial with orange highlights, and a white dial model as well. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality inexpensive watch. The watch is an Orient Sporty Automatic GMT Japanese Automatic Self Winding Movement: Orient caliber 46P4021 Jewels21600vphStain
A few of you were kind enough to express an interest regarding a recent purchase of a Universal Geneve Tri-Compax, so I will take the liberty of boring you with details. Most of the info is from Pietro Giuliano Sala's recent book on the subject. The Tri-Compax is a wristwatch with three complications - chronograph, complete calendar and moonphase - hence the name. It is a common and widely held misconception that Tri-Compax refers to the three dial layout on many chronographs. The irony of course is that the real Tri-Compax has four subdials. For UG, a three dial chronograph, because it only had the chronograph complication, was simply a 'Compax.'The Tri-Compax was UG's most complicated chronograph and flagship model, introduced at the Basel watch fair in 1944 for the company's 50th anniversary. It remained so into the 1970s, when UG hit rocky times as did every other manufacture with the advent of quartz. An additional short run was produced in the mid 1980s with leftover ebauches. I
So I have a watch given to me as a gift (hand me down)that I no longer wear,I know that it is a two tone Constellation with Chrono.Does anyone know the exact model perhaps? Also, would should i expect to get for this piece? Is it worth selling at all?
One of those back of the brain musings.I have one of these in my collection. Nice price, great watch.2.jpgI have thought of bagging one of these:1.jpgand playing swapsy with the bracelet and having this look:ba.jpgI DON'T like the TT version. In the flesh the bracelet has a different tone of gold to the bezel/hands/pushers. It's also a silly price, for me at least.3.jpgI DO LIKE THE FULL GOLD VERSION IN THIS DIAL.... but I've never seen one available with actual pics, and for less than ¡ê10k, my max budget for an Omega.4.jpgAnyway. I'm playing a waiting game on the TT/Strap version. One day the plentiful Buy it now offerings will have to be offered without reserve and a market price will be achieved and me the highest bidder maybe. Then I'll decide I preferred the chase rather than the kill and it will be at the back of the work safe with the others.Musings off.
