Girard Perregaux Girard Perregaux 18292 wrist watches news:
This quartz watch was a gift from a member of the Royal Hong Kong Police to my stepfather. It is worn on the belt (see middle pic of belt loop), which I haven't come across before. You just undo the front dome, flip it down and read the time. An interesting, if novel, idea. It marks the handover of Hong Kong back to the Chinese in 1997. (which I guess would also have been the end of the Royal Hong Kong Police).
On many occasions I have urged people to bring in their mechanical watch for servicing every four to five years.During a lunch speech I gave yesterday on watches to a business club, I made that remark as well. One of the participants asked me to type in the URL of the blog of Nicholas Hacko an Australia based watchmaker. Not a single person in the audience had voiced anything against regular servicing after Mr. Hacko's blog was projected onto the wall by my beamer. Truly amazing, isn't it?
I'm hope there is someone here could help point me in the right direction. I have an old pocket watch I inherited from my father. It works well but is impractical for any use I have. It is gold (appears to be solid gold but definitely has wear. Can anyone help point me in the correct direction for establishing a value for it and potentially selling it. Inside the case is stamped a number 1568923 and a four symbol seal. Attached are some photos. The dimension of the case is 1 3/4 inches.
With the much appreciated help of Fr John, I recently purchased a new Planet Ocean model 2200.51.00 from his recommended dealer. The transaction was flawless, a great watch purchasing experience. To give you some history, I was originally considering several versions of this model including the newest 45.5mm ceramic. I went to my local AD and tried on the 45.5 but it was just too big and thick, and I have a big wrist 7-3/4. I also wasn't crazy about the grey ceramic bezel. So I decided on the 45mm (thinner) model with the 8500 movement. I wanted to be sure I got the D version so I decided to buy new and move fast as they are disappearing since being recently discontinued. I wasn't sure which band I wanted, so along with the steel bracelet, I ordered the mesh and the black rubber strap with orange stitching (I'll address the rubber strap later in a different post). When I received the watch I was thrilled with the watch but the steel band felt very heavy and uncomfortable. And although i
My wife wears the Explorer in rotation with her white 116520. Thought I change it up a bit and try for the first time a leather strap for her to match the brown purse etc. just change it up a bit. Ordered this Hirsch strap from Amazon and put it on today. She didn¡¯t like it, and frankly neither did I. The color didn¡¯t match any of her stuff either. The strap also was a bit thick around the spring bar, and it rubbed against the sharp edge of the watch as it rotated around the spring bar so not sure if I can return it now. You can see the scraped discolored part at 6 and 12 position. Oh well. Thought I share these pics anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
