omega watch from my grandfahter
I have an Omega watch that belonged to my grandfather (I believed he purchased in 1938 in Italy) .It is a gold large watch with roman numerals. There is a serial number on the movement (9024503) and there is another number on the plate between the movement and the backing gold plate (9835675), unfortunately I lost the winding crown and the perspex cover is scratched. I cant work out how to attach photo (manage attachments comes up with a security error).I would be grateful for any information and possibly info on somebody that could help with the winding crown.The watch was kept by my mother from 1966 to 2000 and was in working condition prior to losing the crownmany thanks

Why a pilot? (Help me pull the trigger!)
I'm writing to seek some expertise, or a justification to "pull the trigger" I can't seem to stop admiring the IWC Classic Pilot (IW371701) and IWC Pilot Mark XVI (3255-01). However I have no logical basis for an additional watch purchase (my current watches are below). What I'm wondering is, What are the objective qualities that make a pilot watch different than a regular watch? And as a side question, What's the justification for spending a lot more on an IWC, when a Hamilton pilot with ETA movement can be had for a lot less? There's something about holding the IWC, but I'm having a hard time justifying it to myself or my significant other!
