Girard Perregaux 49865-52-651-BK6A wrist watches news:
We know that tourbillon watches are expensive. The complex little movements are at a premium based on the difficultly of manufacture and the prestige of owning one. The bar has been set pretty high with all variations of multi axis tourbillons and flying tourbillons that give a great view of the action. What ever happened to just the basic tourbillon? Because more tourbillon watches go for $50k and up, the proprietors of such luxuries feel the need to spruce them up with lots of gilding and fancy appointments to justify the prices. That is typically the case with most tourbillon watches that feel more a like novelty than like something worth wearing on a daily basis. But it doesn't need to be that way.The Nivrel "Sea" series has always been a diver's watch line that I have admired. I know of Nivrel's reputation for high quality construction and meticulous attention to detail (what else would you expect from a serious German watch maker?), and now I know that they have gently entered in
I would like to thank you guys for demystifying the whole Daytona thing. I coveted this watch since 1992 when I purchased my first Rolex. A non date Sub. At the time I had an opportunity to buy a used Daytona for $3500. I thought it was too much for a watch with no box/papers. A few years later, in mid 90s, SS Daytonas retailed for around $5K+ but they were hotter than today with a $4-5K premium over MSRP for a new one. I've recently had a chance to pick up a new '06 SS model for $9500 which is a steal considering I can flip it for $11-12K easily. As could my uncle who gets these deals from time to time but he offered it to me, at no charge. It's an un-used 2006 Daytona with all the 'packing material". My uncle is watch repair guy and a very good one. He's got many contacts in the jewelery business and he has an impressive watch collection consisting of Rolex, VC, PP and AP watches among others. Surprisingly he really loves and respects Invicta brand.Go figure. He gets top end watche
As some of you might know, I had a Patek 5726 on strap that I sold since I liked my 5712 much more and the day and month windows were too small and it was hard to read, so basically that funded the diver.Am I happy with the trade? Extremely happy, I have it only for 2 weeks and I think I rarely feel in love with a watch so quickly, I had a few fears getting it though, the first was the comfort, since I have my 5712 I found it impossible to wear a Pam or Rolex, had 4, BLNR, sub LV and LN and a RG daytona 116515, so since the diver is about the same weight as a sub I feared that I would find it very uncomfortable, to my surprise I find it practically as comfy as the 5712.My second fear was that I wouldn't like it in real since it's a big watch and my big watch period is over, no more 44mm Pams, had 3, but no I got used to it and find it looks great, in fact I seem to love equally both watches, they are totally different, for me the 5712 is a sporty looking dress watch, while the diver is
