Girard Perregaux Girard Perregaux 8521 wrist watches news:
Hublot brand ambassador and all-around nice guy Usain Bolt just got his first limited edition watch. Usain Bolt is the fastest recorded runner and is often affectionately referred to as the "fastest man in the world". Actually he is not from Africa but rather Jamaica. A little while ago (before this watch was released) I got a chance to interview him. I actually asked him some questions about what a limited edition Hublot watch for him might look like. Let's see if his answers match up to the result.[youtube youtubewatches-dealer/watch?v=ZRu4hr-Z4tA]Inherently there isn't much new here because this is your standard King Power Chronograph watch. I discuss it because I think Usain is pretty cool and it is interesting to see many of the "reasons" for Hublot limited edition watches. What is different are the little touches that make it special for Mr. Bolt. What a damn good last name for a champion runner right? I've always thought that. According to Hublot, the strap is made from "exactly
New trend seems pretty well on its way. It really won't be long before 18s pocket watch movements are going to be dissappearing into conversions bound for modern wrists. Take a look at item 180637606928. Only a 12s this time complete with tall pedistal and crown. Looks like it might be a new case comversion. I haven't seen anything from the 20-30s with such clean lugs. Other pieces pointed out on the Hamilton forum are 160618615875 and 160629227762. Can 18s be far behind?Joel
The 1929 Illinois Futura:I remember emailing Rick one day saying "Hey Rick I found a really cool Futura on ebay...Rick replied, no Greg You have found yourself something even betterAn Illinois Wentworth!" (They both share the case number...I will show you one of those down the line!)This watch looks very "Futuristic" for the 20's and has beautiful curvy multi-layered bezel.I have been wanting one of these for a long time and got it for Dad for Father's day!It is sleek and fits very nicely on the Wrist.Another example that proves you don't have to spend a fortune to have a very nice watch.14K YGFCase number 197Case maker: KeystoneMovement size 12/0Subs at : 6Movement 207/17JPlain bezel/side engravingPrice new: $60 (1929)Came in Yellow gold filled and White gold filled.Sides:Back:Caseback:FF Notes:The Illinois watch company in 1929 described the Futura briefly as "Further evidence on Illinois Craftsmanship in the 12/0 size watch field."Rarity 1-2/6Time Period: ModernePrice Today $250-$65
I just decided that my Seiko and Hamilton are too nice to be on my wrist while I'm pulling wrenches on the car or digging in the yard so I went out and bought a watch which I have every intention to beat the hell out of. What do you use for activities that you'd rather not see your loved watches be a part of?
