Pre Basel 2012: Bremont World Timer (ALT1-WT)
Bremont was commissioned to produce a unique global timer chronometer for the military C-17 Globemaster crew around the world in 2010 and it¡¯s been acknowledged as one of the more intricate and complicated military watches of its kind.Design features of the Bremont C-17 include the etched globe on the dial and a Roto-Click bezel that enables the user to work out the global time zones using the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) airfield identifiers. Each identifier represents a C-17 landing location in all 24 time zones. The watch itself can show UTC or 'Zulu' time through its adjustable 24-hour hand.Now the ¡®Globemaster¡¯ watch has been released as the Bremont World Timer (ALT1-WT) as the first global timer watch for use by pilots, travellers and Bremont fans the world over.The new Trip-Tick case with Roto-click bezel and the highly finished dial has been precisely over-engineered to Bremont¡¯s exacting standards.The steel case has a hardness and scratch resistance of 2000

Toxic skin and "Swiss"
Sometime in the 1980s, an AD I frequented (and still do) had a sale on and I bought a couple of watches, a gold one for my wife and this plated Longines quartz for me as a business/dress watch. After a couple of years, my toxic skin and Central Texas humidity produced the results seen on the back of the band, eating away the plating and into the base metal in places. The watch ran fine and looked (still does) OK on the wrist. I noticed then that the inside of the case back said Hong Kong, but the watch was a Longines from a reputable dealer, and the movement is clearly marked Swiss and is even decorated, which may or may not be unusual for a Longines quartz.Evidently, outsourcing to Hong Kong was even in the '80s not unusual for some parts on Swiss Made watches. I do wish there was some way to replace the band with a strap, but I can see no possible way. The watch still works just fine. Here are some shots I made today:

Forged Or Ceramic Diver
I'm suffering a small dilemma. I have a steel Offshore Diver. I love the watch, but I also love black watches. Scratch resistance is up there on my wish list also. I'll keep the steel diver, as I've buried myself in bracelets and straps and buckles. I've found a local Forged Carbon with orange accents. It's pre-owned but appears never worn. Yet when I look at the forged diver, I get mixed feelings. The ceramic offers scratch resistance, like the carbon. But what really sings on the ceramic is the display back of the ceramic diver, very cool. Is it worth waiting to find one? I rarely buy new at AD's. I'll let someone take the initial hit

Except for Deepsea, the release seems feminine...
