Hamilton H68551733 wrist watches news:
Breguet No. 160 generated two of the greatest mysteries in watchmaking: who ordered it, and who stole it? Commissioned by an unknown admirer of Marie-Antoinette in 1783 as a gift for the queen, it was not completed until 1827, 34 years after her death. In 1983 it was stolen from a Jerusalem museum in a daring heist. In 2005, Nicolas G. Hayek, President and CEO of Montres Breguet, commissioned the manufacture to exactly recreate No. 160. The result was No. 1160 – a treasure in its own right, and it’s coming to the USA. No. 1160 (pictured below) was created by the watchmakers and artisans of Montres Breguet using drawings and photographs of the original, and great pains were taken to make the recreation as authentic as possible, down to using tools and materials common in A. L. Breguet’s day. Breguet No. 1160 will be on display and available for public viewing on these dates at these locations:October 14 (10-2 pm)October 15 & 16 (10-6 pm)The Breguet Boutique280 Nort
GreetingsI was wondering if anyone can comment on visiting Pateks Headquarters in Geneva. I was interested in planning a trip at some point but had some questionsWhat is the best time of the year meaning ( less crowds) Good hotels to stay in Geneva etc etc. ?Also is there a way to get any special treatment being a Patek owner or any type of perks visiting the headquartersThis would be a once in a lifetime trip and any help would be appreciated.I wanted to do this in the next few years and anyone with any experience of visiting Patek or anyone who has travelled to Geneva would be helpfullthanks
A recent acquisition I'm still very much on love with - thought I'd share a few pics from today! Some say too small - but I think it's just right on an average wrist like mine...any larger I find and it's just screaming to be looked at...(plus there are other bigger watches one can also have in their collection)Some say It does not compare to 5070 (and they may be right) but its like comparing your favorite james bond or doctor who - I can appreciate both...Anyway I am really enjoying it - and thought if share some pics I'm gradually closing in on my grail a 5970 :)
Hello all, novice watch tinkerer here.I'm servicing my grandfather's old Hamilton Lester (982 movement) and I'd like to replace the mainspring. My research shows that the 982 used a 14/0 size mainspring.I see several old mainsprings for sale in various places....just wondering if a more modern alloy spring is available in this size, and would that be a better route to take?I appreciate any help or tips you may wish to share.Thank you,Greg
A description of this watch would not be appealing to me: big, bulky, flashy, and big. Wait, did I say big twice? Well, for me it's big. But for some reason I really like it!019.jpg018.jpg
