fixing a watch
So I just moved and I came across my Grandfather's pocket watch that I've had since I could remember. It runs (after being wound and shaking it to get it started) and actually keeps good time too. There are 2 main problems though: the crystal is completely gone, and you can't set the time from the crown. The display (I don't know the proper term) is also somewhat damaged but I'd like to keep it anyways since it's the original. It's an old gold Waltham with a 21 jewel movementwatch.jpgThis one is from an ebay auction but it's very similar. The only difference is the pattern on the body.my questions are: how can I dissasemble it myself? It appears to be a screw top and back, but with no notches to grab it. And where do I find a replacement crystal?

Thermo compensated quartz vs. mechanical?
I'm very curious on getting a thermo compensated quartz watchand I want to know if it's more "high rated" among WISes or nothing beats a mechanical I'm towards the Breitling Colt or the Omega Constellation Perpetual Calendar...I have an itch that needs to be scratched, and the only other choice so far is a Longines Grandvitesse with Panda dial...Opinions please...
