Hublot 322.PX.100.RX wrist watches news:
I was perusing the Elgin ads on eBay and found these two from 1961. The first one extols the fact that it takes 6 months to produce this watch and that it had 30 jewels. Also, the line started at $100.Next, this ad actually names the watch. Actually, Elgin called the 761 Elgin and the 760 Lord Elgin the same name. Am I reading it correctly? They were called Thin-Thin! The Elgin with the 761 movement started at $54.50 and the Lord Elgin with the 760, at $100.
Here's a photo of my wife's Lord Elgin jump-hour watch from the 1950's. At 34mm, the watch is just the right size for her. Here's another shot...
Well we had a thread recently about AP and accuracy. I've monitored my three AP's over the last two weeks and I've been surprised. All were worn in regular rotation and left on a Wolf 3 watch winder when not on my wrist. Not counting seconds, all were spot on the correct minute. So much for a pattern of poor accuracy. Let's have a poll.
Yesterday, two other friends and myself took ourselves of to London for a few hours, to visit as many AD and vintages shops in Bond Street including Old & New Bond Street. Now for those who know that area, will appreciate that there are several Patek Philippe AD's including their Boutique. Now for the first time ever, I saw pieces in the window, that would a couple of years ago, already had buyers or were kept in the safeThese included pieces across the board such as PC's AC's WT, Chronographs.Models such as: 5140 all metals, 5159, the new PC from last year, 5960P both coloured dials, 5170J, 5130, 5726, 5205, 5980, 5712 etc etc.And this wouldn't be in just one storte but most of themNow is this beacuse of our current favourite phrase Economic Climate, or that AD's are stocking up or that they are just tooooooooo expensive or maybe another reasonOn a slightly different note, I visited the new watch department in Harrods and found it to be a HUGE improvement over their previous one. Hey guys, need some help here. I'm Rolex through and through but I'm really jonesing for something different. I was a hair's breadth from pulling the trigger on a Pam 533 today. I was offered 10% by the local (and only) boutique but an AD offered me 12%. Both discounts seem pretty reasonable to me but I know nothing about Panerai. Is that sort of discount good or could I do a lot better? I don't want to go down the route of a trusted seller, I want to buy from an AD.This watch really sang to me but don't want to buy in haste to find I could've done better elsewhere.
