Cleaning and Removing Surface Scratches from Plastic Crystals
Hello All, I wanted to share an easy way to clean up older plastic crystals with minor scratches. I've only tried this on one watch so far. I dipped a Q-tip in Meguiar's PlastX Plastic cleaner and just lightly buffed out the scratches then wiped it clean with a cotton cloth. This product is meant to brighten up the headlights of cars but worked wonderfully on the scratched crystal. I was just very careful not to get any of it on the gold filled case as I wasn't sure how it would react to the chemicals.

is there a difference between black monster skus SKX779 and SKX779K3?
I'm about to snap up a Black Monster (can't resist the allure of that lume!) as my first Seiko, but was wondering if there was a 'newer' SKU, between SKX779 and SKX779K3, and what (if any) were the differences. The only I can possibly surmise at the moment is that SKX779 is perhaps older, and has a diameter 2mm larger? ...or should I get an orange Monster?

I'm a pretty handy guy and have a new-found obsession with watches so I figured I'd combine the two...I picked up a problematic black Monster from WUS - I'm sure some of you have seen it. My plans are to first partially disassemble the winding system to see if I can determine why the watch won't maintain a charge. The watch runs (at least before I ruin it), it just doesn't retain any energy. Provided the watch runs acceptably by the time I'm done, I plan on installing a different color dial, either yellow (1st choice) or orange (2nd) and maybe different hands.How does this sound?: Monster w/black chapter ring and yellow dialplongeur handsbead blasted case and braceletmaybe anodized case/bracelet as an alternativeIf I kill the movement, how much would a replacement 7s26 run and where can I purchase one?

Hi TRFers,I was hoping to seek thoughts from those in the UK (as I am UK based) about watch insurance.How do you insure your watches? Do you cover individually or multiwatch insure? I know people use their home insurance to cover their watches as an option.What if you don't have home insurance or rent?How about for travel (both business and pleasure)?Where can I best read about my options and costs?Many thanks in advance!
