About To Buy My First Vintage Omega Seamster
Hi everyone, I just want to work out some pre purchase jitters here from an Omega newbie.So the watch I'm looking at is a 1959 Seamaster caliber 591, model number 14704. It has some dings and some patina on the face, but is in overall good working order and keeps time well. It has recently been cleaned and lubricated with a new o ring installed. The genetman is asking $350 for the watch. I know it's difficult without looking at great photos, but I did attach 1. So as a ball park is this reasonable? Expensive? Neat lil' 1954 Bulova Watch. Not bad for the trash!
I didn't exactly dig around in a trashcan to get it, but I was helping a friend clean out a house he bought and this was in one of the junk drawers. He was going to toss it so I grabbed it.It's a smaller Bulova, I'm not sure if it's a mens or a woman's. No crown unfortunately, a little bit of brassing but not much, really nothing.The movement is a 15 jewel swiss, quiet clean! I need to find a crown for it so I can see if it works or not. The dial has a bit of smuts but it's not too bad.Movement shot isn't that great, I'll retake it another time.So, what do ya think?

Winslow / Donovan question
I have a Hamilton Winslow that I am just about to take to a watch repairer. It looks pretty good (it has the gold stick markers and what I think is the two-tone dial), but it has some problems:1) I cannot get the movement out of the case back, and managed to lose the second hand trying. (Don't ask.) How much of a disaster is that? What would make a good replacement?2) It winds and runs, slowly, but the hands can only be set by turning them counter-clockwise. If you try to set them by turning them clockwise, the crown just spins. Does this suggest a stripped gear of some sort?3) It currently has a woman's expandable metal watchband on it, and I cannot figure out how it was installed, or how to remove it. After the second hand fiasco, I am not eager to try. Were the attaching loops on these things just bent into place?4) What do people with Winslows or Donovans do to replace the leather cords these watches came with? A big leather shoelace? And how was it fastened? Somehow, I

I'm not obsessed by the accuracy thing. I know all automatics/mechanicals are flawed. But my most accurate watch is not even COSC certified.What's yours?

44mm Offshore - Really Uncomfortable
Guys,I just bought an offshore and am finding it quite uncomfortable to wear. I hope it is just a matter of getting used to it.Here is what I am experiencing:- the pusher buttons are poking my hand when I type or raise my hand above my wrist- it is my first rubber strap and it seems to be created more friction against my skin.Has anyone experienced this? Do you get used to it? This watch looks great but if it remains this uncomfortable I may have to exchange it.
