After Girard-Perregaux took home the Aiguille d’Or at the 2013 GPHG with its Constant Force Escapement piece, it claimed a staggering level of haute horology. That’s why a tourbillon minute repeater turned inside out for your viewing pleasure is really no surprise from the manufacture. We were big fans of the enamel dial 1966 Minute Repeater a couple of years ago, and, if aiming to surpass that was the goal, bringing the back to the front and adding a tourbillon is certainly a way to do it. 1 OF 5 The Tourbillon Minute Repeater is rather stunning to behold. The open-worked concept displays the striking mechanism’s components up front. There is no wrist or skin or case confining the chimes, only a layer of sapphire crystal.The 18k gold case itself is shaped, front and back, as an acoustic amplifier. Dug up this old post and thought some of my fellow Speedy Pro fans might like it. ;-)The Plaisted Polar Expedition Speedmaster"Apparently, insurance salesman and amateur adventurer Ralph Plaisted and a few friends decided on a lark to see if they could get to the North Pole on snowmobiles, the first land attempt. They had one failed try then succeeded in 1968 after a 43 day effort. They (Plaisted and 3 friends) used Ski-Doo snowmobiles, 300cc with 16hp, amazing in today's world of 150hp sleds! The used Omega Speedmasters that not surprisingly, performed quite well (44 days at an average -52¡ãC)."Chris

Ceramic seems to be the not new material. Bell & Ross is offering a ceramic model, as well as a ton of other companies including Invicta.Does anyone here own a ceramic?If so, what do you think?While the material is highly scratch resistant, I gather it is very brittle and can shatter like a floor tile if dropped.Ever had this happen?Thanks!
