- A good, rugged band but I just wish Suunto made X-Lander or any of their watches, for the matter, so that they could accept an over-the-counter band.

Hublot 305.CM.002.RX wrist watches news:
I was dropping off a watch today to have the crystal replaced, and while talking to the watchmaker/shopowner, I mentioned that I collect vintage Hamiltons. He asked if I was interested in the newer models because he had on consignment a brand new 25J automatic Khaki available for $375. Inner/outer boxes and papers included. So, I'm seeking opinions about this watch at this price. Here's a stock photo of it from the web:
This watch was just listed on Ebay on Dec 19 with starting bid of $3000.00. Anyone know about this model ? Posting suggests manufacture date 2002.
The other day (on another forum), Joel and Rob (IIRC) were bemoaning the rise in prices of Elgins on Ebay, and hinting broadly that it was my fault for popularizing the brand. Pish and tosh, boys! There are still bargains out there! For example, this baby, which I got just today.Billed as a 'Ladies' watch', it's actually a man's watch, with a 1940s JB Champion bracelet in reasonable working condition! The movement is a 15j 557, one of the 15/0 series from about 1942. It was listed as not running, because the seller couldn't wind it. I checked, and the bevel pinion and crown wheel were skipping. I've seen this before, when the crown wheel screw is loose. A few turns counterclockwise, and it's fixed!Running with pretty good amplitude, too! Now, I don't think I'll be able to wear it as it is. Too girly, even though the previous owner's wrist was at least as large as mine. And what did this set me back?$10. Ten Dollars for a working watch, with an excellent dial, a decent case, a v
For some reason the pics on the Longines site really don't do it for me.But whenever I see a real life pic they really grab my eye:I think I am really going to have to have a good long look at one soon. I am getting tempted to move from Seiko divers to the HydroConquest models!! I saw a pre-loved blue HydroConquest for sale yesterday (the one in the pic above) that really stopped me in my tracks for a while. I'm still thinking about it!! Part of what has me very interested (apart from the looks and the brand of course!) is that it is a quartz! I would really like to add a good quartz movement to my collection. Some days I don't have a decent watch wound, set and ready to go (especially if I have been wearing my Seiko SKXA35 all weekend), and so would like a quartz that I can grab and go when in a rush. There are 2 small hitches:1) It is 39mm. I haven't tried it on, but others seem to say that it wears bigger than this measured size. But then again, there the automatic models come in 41m
I picked this up today. I'd been researching PO's, and decided to go with this one. It took a while to decide between a regular PO, chronograph or GMT, but this ultimately won out. I know some don't like the orange and blue, but it's my alma mater's colors, and I love the look. The bamboo box is nice too.
