First Omega, and quite surprised...
Many thanks to all of you who responded earlier in the month to my question about "Why Omega"! I was torn between the Seamaster/Railmaster and Seamaster/Aqua Terra Chronometers. I casually mentioned them to my wife when surfing the internet one evening, and was completely stunned this past weekend when she presented me with her choice on the matter on our 17th anniv. (Aqua Terra Chronometer, steel case, silver dial, leather strap). I have always deferred to her tastes, so am thrilled.Actually, she only gave me a picture Her dealer had to special order this particular one and I have about another week of waiting, and waiting, and waiting...I will try to figure out how to post pics on this site in time for arrival. As I only have a couple of watches, this one will certainly get lots of wrist time. Interesting, it was 10 years ago she gave me my only other watch I wear to work (Concord Sportivo) - I'm wondering if there is some significance in the 7's of our anniversary. Can't wai

Just noticed a price jump for the 5712/1A
So about a year ago I was looking at the Nautilus 5712/1A. It was beautiful watch and I noticed one could get it from a trusted dealer on here for 30K. I thought the price was justified for a beautiful time piece like that and then moved on.Today I decided to go this forms of classified section of this forum and noticed it is being sold by trusted seller for about 54k. I have not been following what is going on in the watch world for about a year now. I was wondering if anyone knew what caused the price jump and when did it happen?I must admit I thought someday I could get that watch, but I am not sure if I can personally justify spending 54k on that watch. I'd probably want to spend that type of money on a Vacheron Constantin or A.lange & sohne.

PPC comparison - 5970J vs 3971J
I was able to compare the 5970P vs 3971J first series recently.According to Sotheby's auction notes, only 9 known 3971J first series are known to exist, with the sapphire snap-on caseback.I know the forum loves the 5970P. Would anyone here pick the 3971J first series amongst the two?They have the same movement inside, but with different metal and case size, from a different time period in Patek history.Please excuse the typo in the title which I don't know if I can edit, as it should read:PCC comparison - 5970P vs 3971J
