Omega Celebrates The Speedmaster And The 45th Anniversary Of Apollo 13
As I sit in the lounge awaiting a non-stop flight to Houston, I can't help but contrast the banality of my upcoming flight against the razor's edge reality of flying an Apollo mission. I'll be flying in a modern aircraft, ferried from one computer-controlled terminal to another, in relative comfort. The risks are negligible and my "training" can be effectively ignored for about three minutes as the plane taxis to the correct runway. Once underway, my only duties are to relax, read a book and likely eat more food and drink more coffee than my hunger warrants. where to source dial to chronomat 13048?
As title says, im contemplating buying an older and quite nice 13048 SS/18k. Only problem ist that it has the white dial. This model IMHO suits the black dial alot more. Soo, where to source this? Much easier if it was omega as ofrei/ebay/watchadoo/i could go on and on has tons of parts. And im not interested in getting 13050 dial. Needs to be correct.thanks

My Latest Speedy Mod!
This is my third Speedy project and I couldn't be more excited with how it turned out. The previous three never connected with me. I just never know how these are going to turn out. So many people love so many different things about timepieces. Well one thing I love if my wide assortment of 20mm straps.I purchased the Speedmaster First Omega in Space and believe it to be the nicest Speedy edition example out there. But at 19mm I simply couldn't keep it. And 20mm straps don't fit--not properly anyways. So that said--here she is. Never seen one of these before...
I came across this watch in a junk pile at my office. It was disassembled but complete, and the movement was free of rust or corrosion. It had been sitting in a drawer, with the movement exposed to the elements, for at least 15 years.It's a 10k gold filled case with an American hallmark inside the case, the case is exceptionally well preserved. The plating is thick and undamaged. I gave it a light buff with a cape cod cloth and replaced the crystal, then had the movement overhauled. It runs great now, and it is in remarkable condition. I think the dial and hands are original too, if not a really good period redial. Since taking the photo I have replaced the crown with a period-correct Omega signed item.What's unique is that it is a calibre 510, which was a small-run manual wind movement made in a series of less than 30k examples in the 50s. It looks similar to the 30mm calibres, but it's only 25mm diameter. 30mm calibres were made in the millions, to give you an idea of how rare these
