Why do leather watch straps cost more than leather trouser belts?
My AD gave me a tan calf leather strap free to go along with my first Panerai, the Pam 90 (The watch came on a black croc). At first they offered me an extra brown croc, but I wanted something less dressy.If I were to have bought the tan strap, it would have set me back $199 + taxes. The brown croc is $299 + taxes. That got me curious and I started looking around. The strap making industry for Panerai's is HUGE..almost an obsession of sorts. From handmade creations from WWII ammunition pouches to the no frills excellent offerings of some of our sponsers (WatchPrice, Panatime etc). Here's what's got me wondering..Even the very cheapest of pure leather watch straps retails from $40 upwards..Yoo can get very respectable and well made straps for $100+. I know the OEM straps have the usual marking up..as expected, nothing will change that. Now, think about men's trouser belts. I can get a CK/Kenneth Cole belt for $40+ (all made in China)..but even if I step up..a Dunhill leather belt costs

First time AP owner with some questions.
I picked up a 15400 about 2 weeks ago off of a member here and and it's an amazing watch but i can't find an answer to two questions i have about noises it making. 1. When moved around it sounds like it is making a noise as if it is winding, I figured that was normal as you can see inside the caseback but have never noticed it on any of my rolex watches. 2. When moved around with a little more force as if jogging or reaching fast for something it makes a different noise as if something is loose and shaking around. It also runs about +5-+6 seconds fast a day but that is not a problem for me. I'm hoping they are just normal sounds as i do not want to send it in to get warranty work already. Thanks for any advice.

The Rolex strategy
The year is 2007 & Rolex bring out the larger (Maxi case) in the form of 116710 GMT Master ll. The next year Rolex supersizes the Sub Date to 116613.Why?Perhaps it would appease a new audience, as well as make the old audience clamber for the newly discontinued 5 digit modelse 2017 & Rolex does the inverse, they slim the Maxi case of the Sea-Dweller to form the 126600.2018... Will Rolex continue the form & slim down other sport models?We assume Rolex will usher in the 32xx movement, but by slimming down cases they rejuvenate the 5 digit lovers into buying new Rolexes and those who adore the Maxi case to clamber for the newly discontinued 6 digit Maxi cases.Deja vu Rolex style.Now that’s good for me, we can argue whether the Maxi case was an improvement or not, but when it come to new movements - there is no argument.So roll on the 5 digit emulating 6 digit models with the newest movements.Let’s see what Rolex unveils in Basel ?18.Remember the fried egg headlights Porsche brou

New vs. Old: Decisions
Hi All,Been chatting with some of my watch buddies, and I've reached a bit of a crossroads. In the last month of ownership, I've loved having my Tudor Sub. It's a great watch with an awesome vintage feel to it. That being said, I have also fallen hard for the current ceramic Subs. I'm a bit concerned currently with the decreasing supply that (1) they're much harder to get now and (2) something will change at Basel and make prices go even crazier than they have already. Not to say I can't afford my watches, but my current budget dictates that I stop at 2 high-end pieces. I refuse to part with my Explorer, so I most likely wouldn't be able to add another piece for a few years at least (grad school, bills, etc.)Would you:A. Hang onto the Tudor and just wait. B. Sell the Tudor and put the money towards a SubC ND. C. Any other realistic ideasThanks guys!
