The 19th of September marked the date of the opening of what is, without exaggeration, one of the most exciting horological events I can recall in a long time. Montres Breguet, and the Legion of Honor (one of the San Francisco Museums of Art) have partnered to create the exhibition, “Breguet: Art And Innovation in Watchmaking,” which presents over 80 watches, clocks, and instruments spanning a wide period in early Breguet production, including the most productive years of Breguet himself, as well as those of his son, Antoine-Louis. 1 OF 34 The exhibition was years in the making and planning, and is co-curated by Martin Chapman, the curator in charge of decorative European arts and sculpture for the Legion of Honor, and Emmanuel Breguet, curator of the Breguet Museum co-located with the Breguet boutique on the Place Vendôme in Paris (which we took you inside here). Thought I would share the most recent watch case: Orbita Verona 3 watch travel case.Very solid leather outside and suede inside. Now I can travel with 4 watches!
not really the most comparable of pieces but wondering if anyone here has chosen the fifty fathoms over an ap. Previously had a black themes, ended up trading away for an aquanaut that i ended up trading out for a 15202. Absolutely love the 15202 so looking to add to the collection. Been thinking about the white dial ap diver, but have always had a soft spot for the fifty fathoms. I never did understand how bp justifies a 15k msrp tho.
As I narrow down to my top two favorites, I think over the next few years I¡¯d like to buy a Platinum DD (36mm) and WG Daytona with the blue dial. It looks like an older Plt DD can be purchased for about the same price as the relatively new Daytona right now. So, outside of personal preference, is there a reason to chose one over the other right now, with the assumption that I¡¯ll buy the other one in a few years? For what its worth, I'll probably never feel comfortable paying full retail for a brand new platinum DD.
