From europastar.com:COVER STORYThe ¡®art watches¡¯ by Patek PhilippeCollectors are already gleefully rubbing their hands together. Patek Philippe is introducing this year a new ¡®World Time¡¯ watch with an enamel dial, which makes its return appearance to the Geneva company¡¯s current collection. If enamel is the order of the day, with a series of limited thematic timepieces and a magnificent D?me table clock, the art of transparency is also being promoted with the brand¡¯s new and brilliantly crafted Skeleton Watch.April 03, 2008By Pierre MaillardThe price was 6,603,500 Swiss francs! This trifling sum holds the absolute record, and was paid at auction in 2002 for a platinum Patek Philippe World Time watch made in 1939. Other rare models of this exclusive complication, particularly from the 1940s and 1950s, regularly fetch prices of around a million Swiss francs or so at auction. Results like these make this wristwatch probably the most highly quoted timepiece in the world.Among all of Patek
What watch size do you feel most comfortable with?I have several larger size watches, for me 40mm is large. However, with my rather thin wrists, I keep coming back to 35mm;IMG_2618.jpgIMG_2412.jpg
Hey guys.Just a quick update from hunting for a 5711. This was quicker than I had expected, and I have found a good friend's cousin that is looking to sell his almost brand new (bought under 2 months ago) 5711 blue dial.He is asking a fair $24,000USD, which is the price he bought it for. I don't expect a deal on this piece.I was really looking hard to find it, and now that I have, for some reason I am having cold feet putting that amount on a SS watch.A friend told me that the watch doesn't look nearly worth how much I am paying for, and that made me re-assess.Am I going to regret not buying this one though?I must say I do love the watch; Just can't help but think I could be getting some precious metal or so for that amount. Or even adding two more SS watches. My only other watch is a Rolex Sub btw. I think the duo with the Patek should be perfect still and cover all bases.Suggestions?
Am looking to buy my first Rolex this year. Waiting to see what happens in Basel. But my aim is to go for a watch I can wear daily and keep for many years. Contenders are of course the SUB (No-date), but I do also like the Explorer I and am pondering others in the range. Looking forward to contribute here, have read many posts and it appears a nice friendly place to spend time!
