The METAS certification by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, founded in 2015 and approved after a battery of thorough tests, is gradually being rolled out to the Omega watch collections. This time it's the Speedmaster collection's turn with the Speedmaster Moonphase Master Chronometer. The 44.25mm steel case features a blue ceramic bezel and tachymeter. The self-winding 9904 calibre fuels a 60-hour power reserve, time functions, chronograph, calendar and moon phase. The hours and minutes lie in the centre of the brushed and sunburst blue dial whilst the small seconds and date with hand lie at 9. Polishing Product
Thought I'd try something different. Had a couple of gold colored watches laying around. A Benrus, and a Tissot 516. Both from the 60's. Both had some discoloration on the cases. Broke out a can of Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish that I use on the Harley's aluminum and chrome. This is a slightly abrasive polish, sort of like a mild rubbing compound. If you use it on dull aluminum, eventually the aluminum will look like chrome. I'll take a little dab on a cloth and rub it on the metal and then buff it with a soft towel. The first towel will turn black from the metal being cleaned. So, I tried it on the two "gold" cases and it worked great!!!! The can says "perfect for all metals." I then tried it on the clasp on my AirKing. I used it sparingly and it removed the light scratches and brought the clasp to a very shiny gloss. When my 5 month old Speedy Pro started acting up Fr. John suggested I send it to Womble Watch Works in Atlanta for service. I sent my watch in mid-April and last week was notified that the watch was ready to be returned. Rather than have them ship it, I went in to pick it up as I only live about 90 miles away.I was greeted by a very pleasant young lady. Hi rolex forum,I've recently acquired a 5712G and I am eyeing the 5205 and the 5960, however as I am starting to spend a substantial amount on my watch collection, I would like some insight as to what value these references will retain 10-20 years down the road. I know it is impossible to accurately forecast the price level, but I would like to know which current PP references do you expect to retain the most value 10-20 years down the road, and why?Thanks!
