Now this is not going to be an easy one to answer.But I would really respect any constructive criticism between the following to makes.I have been a life long - or so it seems, of Rolex watches.But recently I have had the urge to look at complications watches, which Rolex at the current time, don't make.I have seen the EBEL Perpetual Calendar, but I believe it to be far to expensive for what it is.So I have looked at IWC watches and really like the Da Vinci - Kurt Klauss Perpetual/Chrongraph and the Portuguese Perpetual Calendar watches.My questions,if its a fair one.Is how do you rate the two different makes for such things as: QualityValue for moneyConstructionAnd anything else that you may like to say.Many thanks, for your help.PS I'm not looking for any destructive remarks of either makes, just genuine comments.

Today's special: one Watchadoo bracelet, fresh from down under!I would not normally edit out my address, but with events of the last few days I don't need an INFILTRATOR getting it.This really make the watch look way more expensive than it is, nearly on par with a Doxa (okay, maybe not that expensive).It's already passed 2 vital tests: The "driving around Center City" test which requires violent & frequent hand gestures.The "wolfing down a burger" test which forces my wrist into a position that can make the crown dig into the back of my hand.The "fishing goo + salt water" test comes next Wednesday, and the "scrape your arms in the sand" test comes a few weeks later when I take my first swim down the shore. So far it feels much more comfortable, but you still know it's a big watch (42 mm is big for me - no Oompa Loompa jokes!) I went big on the photos so you could get a good look at it.Thanks,Dennis

Question 2: Watch engraving
OK, this is the second question following my first about Watch Care.I have often wanted to get my Roles engraved. Until now I haven't found anyone to trust with the watch or to do a good job. Many engravings I see are poorly done, either shaky looking or so shallow they look like someone was just scratching the piece. I would like the engraving to be sharp and deep.My question is this: does engraving affect the value of a watch? My own feeling is an engraving might increase the value. My rationale for such a statement is that to have a vintage piece that is engraved as the example below suggest giving continuing time and effort to a very personal item that was given to someone with love and affection. To maintain an old piece with such care suggests honoring the original affection with which it was given. Your thoughts - does engraving add to, subtract from, or not affect the value of a watch?[IMG][/IMG]
