Xemex is a great brand built on the expertise and designs of industrial designer Ruedi Kulling. He has done a great job of mixing geometric design, minimalism, and ergonomics. What was once a small watch design operation is blossoming as people are appreciating the look of these watches. I recall my first Xemex watch which was an Offroad model. I recall being so pleased at how each element of the watch fit together so nicely in both construction and aesthetic form. I feel this way about most every Xemex watch.This particular model is simply called the Xemex XE 5000, nick named "Sun" due to the charming yellow hue of the dial. The color, is almost a cream yellow, and suits the watch well. Chronograph subdials are done in a soft chalky gray. The combination is far more calming that one might presume. Sea Horse needing help
Another addition to my 60's Seiko box and this time it is a automatic 7625-8011 from October 1967. I picked this one up as a project as it is in a bit of a mess, crystal is nasty and the case is a little marked but not too much that a little effort will not fix it. Seller advertised it as second hand moving but could not move the hour hands as the crown was not working correctly and it was stuck, on arrival I removed the crown and the stem was bent and it straightened very easily. The movement is keeping perfect time now for the last 8 hours but the dial is my main issue. Apologies for the pics but I hope you can see what I mean, the numbers/letters under the 6 on the dial are all crooked "Japan 7625 8000". I'm not sure how it happened, it does not look like it is a redial. It also looks like someone was poking the dial and it has left it with a lot of little indentations on it. So any suggestions as to why the numbers are crooked and also what are the potential costs to get the dial r

I must admint... I hate adjusting the date on both Pepsi and BLNR after a few days of not wearing them. The thought of rotating the hour hand two full rotations to advance the date by 1 day, and then to repeat this over and over to catch up to say 10 days later... I feel like I am doing this to the watch and putting extra wear and tear by fast forwarding the hour hand that normally forwards slowly. Yesterday I picked up 16710 to wear it and the date said '2'. I thought meh.... close enough to 12! and just set the time and wound it a bit and put it on.So technical watchmakers and professional watch rotators of experience: what say you? Should I be worried about clicking forward many days in one shot, done perhaps two - three times a month? Or should I just ignore the date and refer to my iphone for that info???
