Jaeger LeCoultre 174.24.71 wrist watches news:
My brother (who knows about my passion for vintage watches) told me about this listing and I picked up this item a few weeks back:Now, you're probably looking at it and thinking "that's a wierd looking pocket watch". It's actually a stop watch - sterling silver case and from approximately ca. 1890 or so. It is working and looks to be in remarkable condition (at least to me). What's interesting about it (again to me) is that it was apparently produced to commemorate the trotting stallion "Axtell" which set the world record in 1889. And which happens to bear my last name (not that there is any other connection, though the name is fairly uncommon and we can trace our common ancestry back to England in the 1600's). At any rate, here is a picture of the trotter:And some information on the imageCaption: THE GRAND YOUNG TROTTING STALLION AXTELL BY WILLIAM L., BY GEORGE WILKES RECORD AT 3 YRS. OLD: 2:12The tiny print at bottom right reads: "REPRINTED FROM LITH. BY CURRIER & IVES" ("William

Hi, after much thought, I finally gave my slow running Omega Speedy Pro Moonphase to the Omega Boutique here in Sydney some weeks ago with clear instructions that no polishing was to be done. Mentioned a ultrasonic clean and a full movement only service was to be carried out, all in writing. Also itseems the crown and pushers are always replaced irrespective of condition(not sure why) but I get to keep the old ones. Can't wait to see the result, will keep you'll posted.
It's kind of like a Ford guy buying a Chevy for the first time...My very first Omega came via UPS today It is a Seamaster Planet Ocean XL.Orange Bezel & Orange 12/6/9.Black Omega Rubber Strap w/ Deployment Clasp w/ Orange Stitching. And man did I have a surprise: I thought I was buying the watch pre-loved... but when this baby showed up, it was sealed! All stickers were still in place including the seal over the crystal... the red dot is also still in place on the caseback...In addition, the warrany card has 2011 embossed in it, but the date is open, any suggestions if I should fill in the date or not???No wrist shot yet, because I don't want to take off the plastics... haha Anway, I will wear it for a bit, and then probably sell it to fund another Rolex... but I must say, I am loving it!!! The size is so cool, just right for a guy like me (6'3)....
Its official. My Planet Ocean is now + or - 0 (zero) seconds in over 1 month (32 days) and counting. My PO seams to gain 1/4-1/2 second a day on the wrist. It scrubs 1/4-1/2 second at night in its resting position with its crown up.
