Jaeger LeCoultre Jaeger LeCoultre 6949 wrist watches news:
I saw this one on the Swamp. My first thought was, "I wonder if it's one of those Bumper Automatics?" Before the 760/761 model automatics, back in the early 50s, Elgin made two models of 'bumper' automatics, the 607 and 618. They didn't make them for long, and soon started importing Swiss automatic movements, so most Elgin automatics you see weren't made here. There was nothing in the description about that, though. So I spent an hour or so, finding all the pics I could of them. It looked just like a couple of them, but of course that's no guarantee.I thought about asking the seller, but then I thought better of it. So I said, "What the heck?" and bid. And won!So, ever since I won the auction, I've been anxious to discover whether I had actually gotten one of the Bumpers. When I got home, there it was - in a box WAY larger than it needed! I took it out, and gently rotated it, and sure enough.. *thunk-unk-unk...* (the rotor bounces off the springs). I got it! An Elgin bumper

Hi all... I've rejoined rolex forum, though I'm into many watch brands except Rolex. I own JLC, Panerai, IWC, Longines and Omega. I need to add an 8-day Pam to the collection (and a 5711/1A-010 PP), for function, so I thought of starting a thread dedicated to starting a conversation on this functional movement(s). Though I need help from the pros here with a list of all 8-day pams available, to get the conversation going on pros and cons, collectability and likeability by all paneristis.... cheers
