The escapement is a fascinating and very important horological invention. While its function can seem complex, it can be better understood through a simple experiment: imagine you have a coiled spring in your hand. Compress it with your other hand and quickly release it. All of the spring’s energy is released immediately without control. Now repeat the experiment. This time use a finger to let one coil of the spring release at a time. Energy is being released in a controlled manner and your finger is acting as an escapement. At what point do you decide a time piece is no longer worth the investment to bring it back to life? Is this again a personal and passionate choice or is there a set of criteria that is generally accepted for guidelines?I have a Tag. Not sure what model, all it has on the dial is "Professional". I have owned this watch since new. Just after Costco opened in my local area (north greater Toronto area) 20 years ago, they carried the Tag Heuer line. I purchased one from them. This watch, aside of the occasional service and battery replacement has not been off my wrist.Now, however, after such enduring use, the watch is in need of some serious attention. It still keeps accurate time. Though I still have the original, I wore through the bracelet. The crystal is breaking down around the outer edge on the inside. It requires a serious cleaning, lubing and new gaskets/seals. Also, the crown is in need of replacing. The watch has been sent to the authorized service provider to get an estimate of

Any TAG experts? Calibre 16 or Valjoux 7750 in the Carrera?
Hey guys. I'm hoping someone may be able to answer another question! As I understand it, the latest incarnation of the TAG Carrera (CV201x) is available in two versions. The older version has a solid rotor, while the newer version has two holes cut into the rotor. The newer (current) model has TAG's Calibre 16 movement, and I've read that the older version has the Valjoux 7750.I guess what I want to know is, is this accurate? And if I can find the older version with the Valjoux movement for a really good price is it worth considering?Thanks!
