Hello, Friends- I recently returned from an awesome week in Cancun and wanted to share some pictures. We stayed at the Royal Cancun and I would certainly recommend it to anyone.Having espresso on our balcony the first morning....Checking out the sunrise....The staff brought us cake and champagne....no, not married or even engaged We rented a car and drove out the the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itzait was amazing. Sarah playing amidst the ruins....This is where they allegedly sacrificed the virgins back in the daydoubt they still do that Plates for sale by a local vendor...Stopped by the town of Valladolid on the way back and snapped some shots:School childrenGot a bit thirsty and stopped for some beers in the town of Xcan. Both beers cost only about $1USD and they didn't even card us! I gotta remember that town for sure My "Jack Kerouac" pose....Just a few random shots...Having drinks poolside...and Leo, they did have "white russians!"One day we went deep sea fishing...Wouldn't this b

I am just back a trip to Switzerland, the undisputed heart of watch design and making, so much so that it amazes me that companies with the standing of Hermes feel they must distort the truth of 'Horology'Flicking through a magazine in the airport lounge, I come across this lovely piece. Immediately I am impressed and delighted to see modern designs using the beautiful designs of the past.Especially one as super as this and with out any doubt the 'beginning of the wristwatch' an are of such great interest and passion to me.But on reading closely it says, and I quote"On this photo dating from 1912, Jacqueline Hermes wears the ingenious leather strap encasing a pocket watch 'designed by her father'. A century later, Hermes draws upon its historical expertise in re-issuing an exclusive limited series call In The Pocket""Designed by her Father - in 1912" - Really? I think not.We know these leather conversion straps - known as 'WRISTLETS' were worn by officers in the Boer War some 12 ye

By now I should know how to swap bracelets/bands, but...
I don't! I guess I shouldn't say I don't know how, I just don't know if there's a particular tool that makes it easier to avoid scratching the case or bracelet, or gouging the band. The two watches that I would like to be able to swap on are the OM that I'm awaiting, and a Bulova with a brown face and a small window that shows a portion of the movement. Others have posted photos of the same model, so I'm guessing many of you know which Bulova I mean.So, any suggestions for a bracelet/strap changing tool?Thanks!

Patek 5711 or 5712?
This has come up many times before on this forum, but not since 2014. I'm wondering how thoughts have changed.I have an opportunity to but either a 5711 or 5712 new from AD. Both in steel (blue dial) and both on bracelet. Really struggling which one to choose as what I like about each is also what I don't like about each (relative to one another). For instance:5711I love the plain dial, but worry that the plan dial is too boring.Love the understated look, but worry it's too understated.Like that it is less money, but is it inferior because it is less money.5712Love the complications, but don't really need any of the complications.Love the asymmetrical dial, but worry it's too busy.Like that it is more interesting, worry that it I will like it less as time wears on.Curious what the current sentiments are out there now that both of these references are extremely difficult to find at AD.Any and all help/thoughts are appreciated.
